Searching for maximum deprecation challenge potential, a 2k Volvo S60 R 6spd came up on the radar, although it's 3 hours away. Drivetrain completely rebuilt, runs drives, salvage title needs cam seals, tie rod, body work.

Google says it's a 3500lb car(!), I wonder how much weight can be shed? Realistically I think anything over a ton is going to struggle to keep up with F-Dat, Brad & the LMP360. I think it could do well in the daily-driver or street tire class though.
I mean, will it run a 9-second 1/4, win the Autocross, and look pretty doing it? IIRC last time we took one of those to the drag strip, it ran a low 14.

That one may have been built by westsidetalon, if my memory serves me ;)
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement! It is the challenge after all and I will need a vacation in St Augustine, Change my mind!
Doesn't westsidetalon own the quickest non-Nelson drag pass in challenge history? Those berkeleyers know how to get it done.
I bet 1,000lbs would be easy to lose with a full gut and race prep. The last 600 is going to be a challenge but I have faith.
Oh, snap, you're in Ohio.

Car is in Lebanon, 3 hours away for me. Amazingly it's also a slick top. Bad timing with the holidays as well. I'm in contact with seller and hopefully still available after holidays.
In reply to dculberson :
While researching, I found a build thread for a World Challenge TC Volvo S60 and they were able to remove 650+ lbs from chassis
In reply to Indy - Guy :
No, hoping still there after the holidays, I'm still doing the math and research on it tho. I understand the shortcomings of this car but still want feedback. Looking for cheap TTs as well.

Are those statements related?
As in, "I see the other 600 pounds have probably already oxidized and fallen off?"
In reply to Jesse Ransom :
Not a bad thought, but it was mostly an observation because I'm in Ohio and think an s60r challenge build would be great.
Modern Volvos don't really rust. They got the hang of galvanizing in the 90s and are really good at it.
In reply to dculberson :
I am, in part, just showing my ignorance. I'm flabbergasted at what I see here on the forum in terms of midwest and seemingly Ohio in particular rates of rust on relatively new cars. I'm kinda stoked to know that more modern Volvos hold up well even under those conditions.

The scales at Dragway 42 say it's a 3800lb car.
