must.....resist......
few questions:
- what is the BP on the wheels?
- what would your GRM asking price be without the 6-spokes and without the 12" wheels? (ie. just with the new windsheild and interior/carb/brake stuff)
must.....resist......
few questions:
But they are likely worth $400 retail, so it would be worth the extra $200 to take them... 13x6 rims with the right offset are not common. (As you can see by the photos, they don't fill out the custom arches on the Snyder Fiesta, but are very desirable for a stock Fiesta)
Deleting the new windshield would drop another $200 if you have a local source... so car absolutely "as is" would be $1400. And absolutely firm.
is there any way i can get more pictures so I can think about how much of an idiot I was for not buying this a year from now with those pictures that burned images into my brain? LOL
I clearly remembered that Renault gti something factory racing sedan I passed on from the Portland area a few years ago.
Glad to take any additional photos you'd like (before I leave town tomorrow for the long weekend). What would you like to see?

it was me just kidding around. a decent engine photo would make us all sicker about this car.
I posted a bunch of new detailed photos (including of all the bad areas I've noted) at: http://www.fnader.com/Fiesta2a.htm
Honestly, I'm not quite sure. There is some clearly aftermarket stuff there (like for the driving lights) but it also has OEM-looking relays, etc added (apparently for the AC)
Even though it apeared to be aftermarket wiring at first glance, the vast majority of the wires appear OEM and run into the OEM wiring loom on the firewall. The wiring itself is not hacked up or spliced. So it looks as if the exterior loom was just removed... maybe when they added the dealer AC they had to go into the harness here?

That car just screams to be lowered. My race car looked like this but with bumpers and it was raced in IT.

In reply to wcelliot:
is that a 4-speed? how fast is the engine spinning at 60 mph in top gear? is it ready to be pressed into DD usage? no, i wouldn't drive it in salty michigan winter, i'm just asking.
In reply to AngryCorvair (not to butt in or anything...) all Fiesta's sold in the US were 4 speeds, but 4th is somewhat of an overdrive .88:1 if my info is correct. It "should" be turning around 2900 rpm at 60mph with that tire size.
I had mine out this past weekend with a slightly smaller tire (175/60/13) and was turning right around 3000rpm at 60mph, which happened to be it's sweet spot for cruising right now (muffler welded to header with no turndown). I'm planning on driving mine daily once I get the exhaust run to the back. I think it will be fine as long as I don't venture out om the interstate too much.

I'm interested but wondering if you are selling now or when you get the MD title? Also, are you willing to have the windshield replaced before purchase?
Keep in mind that these cars were used as daily drivers by thousands of people in the 70's. To today's ears, you'll naturally reach for a 5th gear, but I've never felt any limitations in using one however I felt like it (around town, interstate, etc). There is a sizeable jump from 3rd to 4th... so as mentioned 4th feels more like 4.5th.
I just haven't made it into the DMV to swap the title over into my name... I'll sell now (and you can wait for the title) or if you're not comfortable with that with a deposit I'd hold it until I get a title. I'll try to go to the DMV tomorrow (and the process averages about 3 weeks).
I don't yet have the used windscreen here yet; will sell with or without it as mentioned above. But if "with" then the timeline is at the mercy of the fellow Fiesta guy getting the 'screen shipped to me and me getting it installed.
There are still some new windshields around... a couple of years ago they were common... I just can't find a reasonably priced new one close by.

indeed. to be a DD in the Detroit area, it must be able to maintain 85 mph without revving itself to death. this is pretty much why i've gotten out of corvairs -- 4000 rpm in a car with a 5200 redline bothers me a lot more than 4000 rpm in a car with a 7500 redline.

Well thinking back to when I raced one in IT you had to use stock parts and I could hit 6700-6800 rpm with just a bit of strain. That was in 3rd gear. I did change the final drive to 4.09 from the stock 3.6 something or other but that still gave me a possible top speed of amost 110 mph! With 80 HP, a bit more then the factory 67 HP possible due to the allowed mods in IT, the car wasn't going to go any faster then around 105 mph. The car is a "brick" as far as aerodynamics is conderned. I would draft cars like NASCAR at Road America. We went 5 mph faster that way at the end of the straights!
IF I had space for it I would have been there already to pick it up.
Disclaimer...I haven't done it yet, so experiment at your own risk... If you don't mid doing some cutting, the 5-speed from an early Escort (with the CVH engine) is supposed to bolt up, but that would leave you getting some custom axles and drops the 70mph cruise by about 300rpm or so from whatI can tell. The Focus SVT 6-speed also goes in with some work (but no cutting since it's shorter than the 4-speed), but only buys you some more gears, overall gearing is about the same as OE.

When i had a street driven Fiesta I though that about doing this. The trans bolts up as you say but the body has to be modified slightly to fit. The european Fiesta got this trans as an option but Ford revised the front subframe to fit it in. By the time Ford did this the Fiesta was no longer sold in the US. Making up halfshaft to fit wouldn't be that much of a problem, certainly nothing that would prevent this swap.
Finally made it to the DMV this morning to apply for the title. (As you might expect I'm a frequent flier there and often the cause of all sorts of issues... make of car not listed in the computer system, etc.... so the DMV manager always drops by when he sees me there to see what sort of havoc I'm causing his folks. Today he was again amused by the Fiesta and accused me of trying to corner the MD market on them.)
So the clock has started... roughly three weeks until I have a clear title in my hands. If the car isn't spoken for by then, I'll likely Ebay (or possibly try to BAT it). Even though I'm asking less money here than I will there, I think the car stands a much better chance of ending up with an enthusiast if someone from here buys it.
I still don't have the replacement windscreen so at this point I assume I'll be selling without it...

With all the nice details (XR2 cluster, Euro wheels, Steering wheels, etc that aren't easy to find in on this side of the pond), that's a good deal. Good Luck with the sale which ever way it goes.
On a side note...I REALLY like the 4-spoke supersport wheels in the pictures, they are probably my favorite period correct Foesta wheel. Any idea how much they (or the RS wheels) weigh? I've been concidering going to 14" or 15" just because it's getting harder to find good 13" tires any more.

If the government doesn't shut down (thus taking away my paycheck) I may be giving you a call.....My 23mpg of $3.77 premium in the wrx is starting to get pricey for my commuting, ugh.
