This harkens back to a time when Isuzu actually made cars! Supposedly VW actually had this body style offered to them by Italdesign for the Scirocco but they passed on it and Isuzu snatched it.

I've heard it suggested that they'd be a good Locost donor. Particularly the turbo ones.

Those cars had one of the coolest/wierdes control-cluster setup. On either side of the steering wheel were "pods" which contained all the various controls. You could move the pods in relation to the steering wheel, keeping the controls within finger-tip reach.

Yeah, these "pods" influenced Chevrolet designers who used a similar layout (tho, I think, without the adjustability feature) when they designed a similar dash for the Berlinetta version of the mid '80s Camaro. This version of the Camaro is "distinguished" by it's FAUX digital instrument cluster (same idea as the fake digital cluster in S-10s) and a radio that swivelled towards the driver...when necessary, or not.

Every time I see those I like them more. If that were over here I think I'd already own it.

I had one, it had the 2.6 big block from the Trooper, with a 2nd gen RX7 turbo it was quick but fragile. The head gaskets are weak and blow regularly, to the point where the O ring head gaskets are used but then the pressure issues manifest themselves in other problems.

They are RWD, trans is nice, LSD is standard in the "Lotus" tuned models.

Front shock towers are very prone to rust
