I've got a 1991 Toyota MR2, 122k miles, 5S-FE engine, five speed. It's been sitting for a while. The engine will fire if bottle fed but needs a fuel line. It looks like it has original paint and wheels, driver's side rocker is rusty and there is a spot ahead of the passenger side rear wheel but the rest of the body looks straight and solid. The front hood cable is broken, which is why the hood is unlatched in the photos.
I picked this up as a track car project but decided I'd rather build a rallycrosser / ice racer instead. I only have rainy day photos of it for now. I'll try to get some better pictures tomorrow.

How exactly does that not qualify as a good rallycrosser/ice racer?
Man, 2nd gen mr2s sure are pretty. Good luck with the sale!
There are a couple guys in detroit with a fast SR MR2 rallycrosser...until it broke at nationals. It did have 400k some miles on it if I remember correctly from talking to them.

It would make a good ice racer, but I don't think I would have the helmet clearance for rallycross.
Looks like rocker panels are still available from Toyota for $105.

I don't fit into my turbo with a helmet on and the stock seat. Lots of clearance with a Recaro seat on Nagisa Super low rail.

Wow Woody, I have your car's twin (rustier and more miles) that I picked up in September for a possible rallyx/ice racer project. 287k miles and rust meant I got a great deal...came with three sets of wheels and suspension bits too. Same black color, same hood cable issues. Seller left his a Cream CD in the stereo...I enjoy driving around my yard blasting some tunes.
Good to know about the rockers. I so want to do a V6 swap on my car.
I hardly fit (long torso) with a helmet, but by tilting the moonroof, I fit quite nicely. Had some dorifto fun at a Devens autox in October...MR is fun!
In reply to crxmike:
Were you able to replace the cable without too much trouble?

I have not replaced the cable yet. It works 50/50.
I picked my car up because it was such a deal. I really do not know what I'll do with it, if anything. Need to clear out a vehicle or two, work on the 325i (that you posted on here in June) as the last drift event is this Saturday at LRP...Sunday the strip down begins for the 5.0 swap (which is sitting in the garage now).
I don't need an MR2... I really don't... but I have an 01 Sentra SE (SR20) & performance package with limited slip that I've been hoping to get out of my driveway pretty soon. Would that make a nice rallycross / ice racer?
That would, but I need to thin the fleet first. I have to sell this and the Subaru to make some parking space.
OK. Send me a message if you want to talk about it
Is this to small of a vehicle for someone that is 6'2"? is it a T-Top?
Yes, T top. You would fit, but not with a helmet.
Started cleaning it up a bit today.
Still haven't washed the outside yet.
I hate to say this, but I may be parting this car out. It's a bigger project than I want to tackle right now and I need the space. Let me know if anybody needs anything.
Or, if anybody thinks they can build a Challenge car out of it, I can get real GRM-friendly on the price for the whole car. It's complete, unmodified and I have a title for it.
All the cool cars always are so far away. I'd love to rallycross this thing.
Just a heads-up: We are having an internal discussion about this car.

I am intrigued by this^.
I'd love to see this car go to the Challenge and I know that you guys are qualified to make that happen. You have mail.
Looks like SilverFleet and I will be seeing you Saturday.
This car is on its way to a very good new home. I can't wait to see it again.
