not mine, but is this a good deal?
"BMW 318 ti Coupe for sale - runs great! Sunroof and A/C work. Needs struts and front breaks. 172,000 miles. Has been in family since new. Call 293-4341 or e-mail." - $2000
I have the cash, and it is REALLY close to me, and I think as long as I replace the miata with one of the trifecta (e30/e36,p71,or another miata) no one will kill me...

I like the Ti's a lot. I've never owned one, but it's an E30 so how bad could it be?
If it's a 5-speed, I'd say go for it.
I emailed the seller and asked him for pictures and more details about it (if it was a manual tranny, any major work done lately, etc..)
Kind of a strange listing, as the 318ti's were all hatchbacks, not coupes. They are E36 cars from the doors to the nose, but I'm pretty sure they used the E30 rear suspension.
Neat, practical cars with potential. A supercharged one would be a really cool DD.
I was thinking one with a 5.3L Chebby since there is one near me for $500... :)
how much/where can I locate a supercharger for it?
edit:ewww $3199, yeah I bet I can get a 5.3L, a t56, megasquirted and installed with a few cases of beer for that much (and that includes BUYING the welder to do it!)
That's a really low price for a 318ti... they tend to hold their value pretty well... Manual sports of that vintage and milage can still get 4000-6000 depending on condition.

They are 4-doors from the a-pillars forward, the doors are unique (full frame). e36 front suspension, e30 rear.

it's a CL ad... so someone calling it a "coupe" instead of a "hatchback" doesn't surprise me...
I'd say go for it... struts and brakes on an E36 are cheap & easy... heck... for that price, I'd even consider doing a manual-trans conversion if necessary... maybe with a S50/2 motor/trans...
Of course, this is also Florida... so it also wouldn't surprise me if the reply to your e-mail is: "please send $2000 into a secure escrow account an I will ship you car..."
i was always told the "Ti" means "trunk impaired". I know, its dumb...
In reply to Gimp:
Yep, here is a really clean '97 with only 71k miles for $6k in Orlando.

Just got this from the seller.
