Big thanks to everyone, esp John for looking up the parts store. That's actually the exit we coasted off of. This wouldn't have been as big of an issue if I had grabbed tools like I said I would. Was able to get the hose clamp off with the pointy end of the lug wrench after sharpening it on the concrete and cut the hose down with some left handed scissors that were in the truck. Topped off with water from the gas station sink using a beer can I found and we're back on the road. At Walmart grabbing water now then heading down the road to harbor freight.

GRM= Grass Roots MacGuyver. Atta boy!! Safe trip from here on in.
In reply to Dead_Sled :
Over buy a bunch of provisional stuff at Walmart and if you arrive home with it unopened then return it all to your home town Walmart

You seem to be the Angel on his shoulder. I agree, better safe than sorry.
Thanks guys, just finished stocking up with harbor freight stuff I'll be returning if I don't need. Super heavy rain right now to where the streets are flooding so we're waiting it out in the parking lot. On the plus side, the ac decided to start working again, which was the whole reason we got off the highway in the first place.
Oh, and SWMBO is still smiling

Remember: It's an Adventure!
Glad she's smiling.
Just popped in here to see how things were going, and see you've made some good memories on this adventure. Glad that you've overcome the hose blow out. Hope you need to return those tools unopened
I am reminded of the time I discovered that additional tools were needed to open the tools I bought from HF.

Someone has to be the angel to my devil around these parts
So, in the name of keeping this an adventurous trip and not a slog, we called it a day and got a room in st George sc. Really hoped to make it further today but if I pushed on to Charlotte like planned I knew I was going to just drive thru till we got home, and SWMBO gave me that look when I started looking up how much longer till we would get home. I could have convinced her that 2am was ok but after the hose and the rain we'd be closer to 4 or 5am and she wasn't going for it, probably for the best.
Not many food/drink options here so it was fast food and cheap beer in the room but we're relaxing and watching moonshiners so SWMBO is happy... So I'm happy... And sweaty so it's shower time.
Not available in Ohio, so get some Bojangles in the morning.
(My wife used to work in St. George).

Smart move stopping for the night. Gotta keep momma Happy.
Sorry I missed your adventure yesterday. I think that was nap time for me. Was great seeing you guys yesterday and hopefully today is less adventurous.
If you guys need anything in North Carolina I'll be around Winston-Salem today. Give me a call and I'll come running along with another mechanic buddy of mine
In reply to OHSCrifle :
Thanks for the suggestion, just finished breakfast and about to roll out.
It was great to meet you, Jeremy, and Chris yesterday stampie, thanks for lunch.
I'll keep you guys updated but hopefully today is a little less exciting.

From what I see you are quite the able enabler.....
And we're home
Truck drove great today. Even with some play in the steering it was quite fun in the wv mountains. I'll write some stuff up soon but the highlight of the day was figuring out how to get the ac to come back on when it would randomly stop working - all I had to do was honk the horn and it'd come back on, wish I knew that yesterday in Florida, ga, and sc . I tested this atleast 30 times today and it worked 100% of the time. Not sure what that's about but it'll go on my list of things to take care of. It'll be a decent list of projects, but first up will be a good deep cleaning. After seeing his previous cleaning work I wish I would have swung by Seth's house on the way home.
Now to put new taillights in swmbos car, I followed her home from the airport and the drivers side is out. Luckily I can drink beer during that.
Glad you made it home safely. Good luck on the horn thingy. I hate chasing electrical gremlins.
So do I, it's the only thing I've ever thought about farming out. I posted about it here to see if anyone went thru this before... And to keep me accountable, because I know if I have a work around I tend to use it, and then it's 5 years later and the horn stops working.
I have bought at least 3 cars from Jeremy. The first one I went and saw/picked up before buying. After that one, I now buy them from him site-unseen. I trust his GRM'er assessment of their condition so I just say yes and then arrange to have the car shipped right to me in Ohio.
The flow of goods and car from Jax to Ohio is strong!
