Alright, I'm finally about ready to sell or part out the 2004 RX-8 donor car. It is a 6 speed Grand Touring model that had a bit over 100k on it before somebody at Ft. Bragg hopped a curb with it.
Why so cheap?
The car has a salvage title, due to suspension/undercarriage damage that is repairable, I have the parts (see pictures). The rear wheel well also got pulled out a little.
Racing Beat front end is cracked. It is made of fiberglass, GRM did an article on how to fix this a while back.
Electric power steering rack is shot. It acts like an unpowered rack at the moment.
engine is very low compression- it has 160k miles on it. This is not the engine that was in the car, that's in my current RX-8. It is also out of the car.
HID lights shown in pictures will not come with the car, another set is available.
Driver side sun visor broken
Radio and center surround not included
CAR NOW HAS A CLOTH INTERIOR
The wheels that will come with it are not good for much besides rolling it around (poorly) as two of them are destroyed and do not hold air. The tires on the wheels were almost brand new, but they have been involved in an accident. I am debating using them as rallycross tires. Your best bet would be to bring wheels that have tires on them to get it onto a trailer.
the Good:
Leather interior in pretty good condition, GT model has heated seats.
LSD from the factory.
At this price it can be a challenge car.

I picked up a knuckle/spindle that should make this into a true roller.
Consider this a part-out now.
I want the seats the but the shipping is not worth it, I may be interested in the shift knob though but all I need is the threaded collar for it but that requires ruining a shift knob.
Shoot me a PM. If I recall correctly, one of the shift knobs was fairly worn out anyhow.
Daily needs a new windshield, I'm going to have to hold off for now. I will contact you towards the end of the month. I may be interested in the transmission side of the power plant frame, I don't need the whole thing so cutting it up works better for me and easier to ship too.

Sell the interior and HIDs and you'd have a free RX-8 with which to start a build with a stupid engine swap.

Wow... Careful planning and this could be completed for less than challenge $$$
The car is still available, and the price is very negotiable.
I'd like to get rid of this to fund a rallycross FC RX-7 project.
I may be crazy, but I may consider buying the RX-8 off you next year if you still have it.
Stranger things have happened.
Did this sell? I am having all kinds of bad thaughts of what I could build with that.
I still have it, it is still for sale, as much or as little as anybody wants.
Still for sale. I'd really like it gone.
How negotiable is the price? The 400 mile tow and then having to find parts to put it back together are a pretty monstrous deterrent, but I've been looking for a velocity red rx8 that needs an engine for a while.

Damn. I just bought a pair of seats on Tuesday. If I would've seen this first, I would've trying to strike up a deal for your seats. You are only 2 1/2 hours away.
Hmmm... Its actually over 530 miles each way :( Fuel, food, and a hotel room will mean well over $300 in pickup costs and two days gone. I'll run it by SWMBO, but this doesn't look promising.
I will still be interested in buying it around June or July at the latest if thepope540 can't buy it.
It is still sitting here, and my running car is on Craigslist.
If it sits much longer I'm going to yank the ECU, wiring harness, transmission, and differential then part out whatever is left.
The differential and transmission are coming out this weekend. Expect the price to drop quite a bit.
So I really wish I did not live in city limits with limited parking....
But a question, why not turn this in to the rallycross car?
