I justified the parking lot build weekend to my wife by claiming we are getting rid of a car. In reality I filled the garage to the brim with cut up parts of two cars, taking up the space of 4 cars.
I regret nothing.

PT cruiser GT $1800. Looks to be in nice condition. Auto, but 2.4l dodge turbo that makes 215 HP and runs 15.something factory.
Turn up the boost, swap out the heavy luxury stuff for junkyard stuff from base models, see if you can grab some wood panels from one of the woodie ones, and win.

1973 Dodge Coronet Wagon, Runs... squeaking in at $2000. Someone here can do something stupid with this im sure. It actually looks pretty good, seller calls it a California car (that's been sitting here for a number of years )
How about a Pinto Crusin' Wagon, $400, Baton Rouge? NMNA.
Description reads "Nothing needs put on road" whatever that means.

Looks good with the pony wheels on there
This is the first time I've liked those wheels on anything, but they're great on there
In reply to maschinenbau :
Plus it wouldn't take much to come up with a paint scheme that would both look great and photograph really well

Eeesh, that's a hard one. I say yes for the sheer utility factor though.

I've fit dimensional lumber and christmas trees in my 1st gen Fit before I sold it... so it'd get my vote; but I'm not a competitor, so I think my vote counts for less than half?
Some more NMNA finds from Atlanta Craigslist.
$500 Mercedes wagon. Seller warns "It's a mess."
