Totally disagree. Tires are definitely a performance part, and perhaps the most important one.
WTF cares about tires or turbos or whatever. $2000 all in. No exempt, no recoup items in budgets. See what you can do for $2k.

What I mean is 440 TW random garbage tires are not performance tires. If you put those on a challenge car other then for street use they won't get used outside of the event. It is senselessly sadling your $2000 race car with non performance parts that represent a large part of the budget.
Obviously the quality and type of tires determine your vehicles performance. For a normal build they are a performance part but purposely bad tires are not.
For a race series controlled tires make sense. For a literal 1 event race where people's used up old tires need to do 3 Autox runs and a drag pass it's not really the answer. It would be amusing yes, but it's not logical unless those tires where budget exempt which is something for a different build then these $2000 all in ones.

Interesting idea. I mean if I keep my New Beetle and build it cheaply I'd probably be there. Spent $500 for the car, I do need tires and a clutch, possibly radiator coolant leak somewhere. But that and other stuff could be done cheap and still under the remaining $1500.

Got it, beg for some end of season takeoff Hoosier or 200tw. Find a 1500 car that fits said tires and add cheap nitrous kit. Reminds me of the days before a set of tires was budget exempt.
