deal of the decade right here. Trying to talk my cohort back into doing the challenge either this year or next year, and this would be phenomenal to start with.

Supposed to have someone coming to look at it next week. Also have another guy interested in just the drivetrain, but it would be nice to sell it as a whole to someone who will use it for the challenge.
if the first guy doesn't work out, I would definitely be interested in the roller, price permitting with the drivetrain going to the second guy.
I'll keep everyone updated. Also had another guy mention he wanted just the roller.

he's not going for it, I'm trying to find a car just to wrench on so I don't do anything else to my daily driver now.

Still not sold. Someone is coming to look at it tomorrow with the intention of completing it for the challenge.

Sleeves are bad. Ask me how I know! Of course, they'll work as long as you don't put any power through them, but that's not a fun solution. I highly recommend figuring anything else out.
A note on the above: this is the design analysis of a part machined and welded perfectly, so it's better than you could do in real life. It's just one solid part, and you can see there is a big weak point where the sleeve meets the smaller axle. This is exactly where ours would fail before we found a beefier solution.
I talked to my friend, and he seemed confident that it would be fine. He has done many axles like this. He did mention that the ideal way is to sleeve and pin the axles. It is his business to make axles so I would take his word on it.

If you only want the 914 chassis I would be willing to separate. I have a guy that will buy the Subaru drivetrain now, I just was reluctant to sell one part of the puzzle without having a buyer for the other.
Knowing that I'm not ready to pull the trigger at this time, would I be able to get a quick look at this on Saturday? I'll be working in Hershey that morning. Probably done around noon?
