I am looking for a challenge car to bring across the country for this event (it's on my bucket list)
I found a 98 Corvette for $2000... it has some computer problem that keeps it from going over 80mph. The current owner has spent a bunch of money trying to fix it to no avail.
Looking through the rules, it would appear that I would need a consensus here that it is actually a $2000 car and not a ringer.
So what do you guys think? Could this 98 Corvette be a $2000 challenge car?
Do you have a receipt and maybe a copy of the ad? That's good enough.

Yup. If its public at that price, its fair.
Last year the was a $2000 CTS-V there for similar reasons.

I bought one a few years back for $2008. It was an ugly 2001 automatic.
The 80 mph limit thing is likely because the shocks were replaced or broken. Look up f45 / f55 delete. You can fix it with a GM tec 2 or some resistors.
A c5 isn't a challenge ringer either. Bring it and have fun
