Mine.
99 silverado 2wd 4.8 auto. Runs/drives. Trans needs 3-4 clutches or a quickie friction kit overhaul, drives fine 1-2. Runs excellent. Missing cup holders and washer bottle, brand new brakes and lines all around but due to shock mount rusting off frame should be considered a proven swap donor.
This was my intent but right now its cold out and taking up space.
$1000 Cleveland Ohio area.
156k ish.
I don't think I would try to take it on highway to get anywhere. I test drove it then trailered it home 80 miles
I'm trying to think of something to build just to use this.
LS donors getting surprisingly cheap.
GLWS!
Slight discount considered for challenge use.

Do it, mav !!! That way I can glean mucho info on how to do this swap under the shady premise of 'coming over to help you out'

if he doesnt i probably will put it in an 85 s10 so you can come up here and "help me out"
right now though, it's cold. cold as berk. so while i thought "hey you're still as willing to do this crap as you were 20 years ago, you can pull the engine after work one day before the real winter hits!" in reality my body told me to get berkeleyed, and it's still on the trailer.
"So, you're saying your body has a mind of its own?"
"... That comment was in really poor taste."

A) It'll fit on the trailer.
B) I'll be up in Canton visiting the outlaws after Christmas.
Just a couple random points that I thought I would mention for no particular reason.

Trying to figure out the budget and difficulty aspects of doing this. I seem to recall the S10 swap uses corvette front accessories, not full size pickup ones.

I've seen several with truck accessories.

Speaking as someone who has never done the swap, this makes little sense. S10s with Vortec 4.3s used the same front dress as the Vortec 5.7. The truck Gen III was designed to plug in where the Vortec 5.7 used to reside. The fan is in the same place and the power steering pump is in the same place (the pumps are also 100% interchangeable, so you can keep any weird remote-reservoir pump you already have) The A/C is in an unfortunate spot but ALL Gen III shoved the A/C down there. (And for good reason - high mounted A/C compressors starve for oil and fail frequently)
About the only annoyance accessory-wise I could think of is that alternator is rather high. But it shouldn't be any higher than the Vortec's A/C compressor, which does fit under an S10's hood.
The problem you may run into is the same one I ran into a few years ago - if you can't use the truck intake manifold, you may be screwed. I couldn't find a 3-bolt drive by wire throttle body that would clear a clutch fan waterpump when using a non-truck intake. The LS engines (speaking literally here) all had electric fans and forward-facing water outlets. Truck engines had clutch fans and therefore upward-facing water outlets, and this gets in the way of the drive by wire throttle body. The ones with the mechanism on the other side will foul on the alternator. So if the truck intake doesn't fit under the S10, then yes, you're going to have a difficult time. Not impossible, just difficult. I've done it but it was not pretty.

07+ pickup water pump will clear a cable throttle body on an ls1/6 intake, upper hose connection shaped differently than 99-06. Just need to move idler pulley over/down which is a bushing and longer bolt away from going through an existing bracket mounting hole. I have that exact setup on an 01 5.3 in my 95 impala and the challenge Datsun.
I happen to have a stack of good 07+ water pumps, and if one is needed for the challenge s10 build it would be included with the purchase price of the donor truck. However I'm confident the truck intake will work in the s10 chassis, i've seen it done.
See how easy I'm making this swap for you? It's 5am, the dog woke me up, and im dropping ls swap knowledge like i've had a few strong drinks.
I'll have to do some more research on both LS swaps and the difficulty and cost of rebuilding a 4L60E. I'm in Canada right now on a work trip, and have bee kept pretty busy. Which is one of the reasons I'm leery of this one - I keep losing garage time to work travel. I don't want to blow my second objective of making it to the challenge because I couldn't finish it in time or (more likely) overran the budget.
We're the GRM Dorks. We're here to "help".
Pat, how is the steering wheel and interior. My 2500 has a charcoal interior that is pretty beat and the leather on the wheel is delaminating.
Why can't you be near me? I soooooo want to do a newer Chevy motor swap on my old CJ.
Good luck with the sale
i'll check on stuff later. i took some pics but need to coordinate my brain with my phone and get them posted. it's covered in ice right now.
also, hurry up and buy it, whoever you are, i found something i need big time
