You know, next year I probably WILL be looking for a project of a vintage racer, but for some reason I don't think this will be the one.

I don't know what it is or what one would do with it but it is kinda neat. Definitely something someone else should buy!

Says 1972 Fiat in the ad
The rear suspension looks to be at least inspired by a sprint car, other than that, I have no idea. The registration says ASM, but googling that provided no real answers.
ASM means "assembled", which is what WV calls homemade cars, trucks, trailers, etc. that are homemade. Part of the title process requires you to show receipts/documentation of the components used to build it.
It looks like a modified motorcycle sidecar body to me.
I'm not in any position to buy this one but did just message the buyer to see if he has any 'no body' photos.
It may have been neglected in the more recent years, but somebody did put some effort into this car at one point.
Definitely has me curious enough to find out more.
The bones of it bear more than a passing resemblance to this purported late '50s F-IIIb that was on eBay a while back.
Hmmm, I do wonder if it may be an old Formula 3 or Formula Junior car. Looks like for a few years F3 did utilize 1 liter 4cyl car engines, and that would be right in the correct era. The more I look at this the more I think it may have actually seen track time wayyyyyy back.
Also looks like we have a winner in the 'guess the engine' game, sure looks exactly like a Fiat 850 motor. Not exactly a logical choice for a movie prop car. But apparently commonly used in F3/FJ cars.
I may have to have a difficult conversation with the Wife.

I am having a hard time not bidding on this.
If the wife had a job starting in the next couple of weeks, id be doing my patgizz impression. But, need to hedge mu financial bets at the moment....
Starting a feeler discussion in this household too, if I start bidding I'll let you guys know. Rather not get into a bidding war with fellow GRM guys. It's a long-shot that I'll get the go ahead, but I may be making a run at this one.
Pretty sure THESE are the "before" shots of the yellow car pictured in my first post, and they show enough of the suspension to tell me that the chassis is very similar.
I think GRM should have a "vintage open wheel" challenge next year.
Okay, maybe 10 years from now...

Well, we know it's not a Devin Panhard, but it looks like it could be a contemporary to it?
