Anybody want to buy a cool guitar or three?

Since I've been playing real country music for a while now, I've begun to feel increasingly disingenuous about playing such a classic American music on gear made overseas, especially in our current economic climate with so many skilled Americans out of work. So, contrary to my usual modus operandi, I'm on a selling jag, rather than a buying spree. I'm selling off my imported gear in favor of some good ol' Made in the USA goodness.

And I know we've got a bunch of guitar players here, so I thought I'd test the waters before I throw them to the wolves on Craig's/eBay. I'll list what I have, and if anybody's interested, I'll send or post pictures. I don't wanna take up the bandwidth for the pictures if nobody cares.

I have:

• A turn-of-the-millennium Danelectro Hodad in white pearl. This was made between '98 and '01 in Korea, and as most players know, all the guitars from this run were really well put together. This model is Mosrite-ish in body shape (like a reversed Strat), with two humbuckers which are switchable for both coil split and out-of-phase. The switching options are just about endless, and it makes for a very versatile guitar. I use this as my backup at gigs, but mainly for a couple drop-D songs so I don't have to re-tune on stage. It's in great shape with one small indentaion about 4" below the tailpiece, which is only visible from the right angle. Setup very well, and plays great as is. I can probably get $250 for it on the 'Bay, so let's call it $200 for a GRMer. No case, sorry.

• A mid-'00s Ibanez Artcore AG75 in sunburst. This is a mid-size, fully hollow archtop guitar, similar in overall design to an ES175, including the florentine cutaway. Two humbuckers, Tune-O-Matic-ish bridge, nice meaty tapeze tailpiece. This thing plays really great with its wide-thin neck and I'd say Jumbo-ish frets. Both of the 'buckers sound like they should: meaty, round and full. These pickups are a lot better than similar units in the Artstars from late '90s, if you ask me. This is another flawlessly-constructed guitar from Asia; this one was made in China. I would have never guessed a Chinese guitar could play so well. I recorded a tune ("I Fail At Everything But You") on the upcoming record with this guitar, which is available for your listening pleasure (rough mix, unmastered - don't judge us based on this clip!) at this link. They go for $300, GRM price: $250. I may have a case for this one for a few extra bucks.

• A mid-'90s Alvarez Regent RF30 flattop acoustic. Laminated spruce top, laminated mahogany sides and back, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard. in keeping with the theme, this is another cheap guitar that sounds and plays a lot better than it should. I had a fancy-pants exotic wood Alvarez Yairi that I took to a local shop for a setup, and while I was killing time, I picked this guitar up and fell in love. There's just something so sweet and endearing about this guitar that I traded my Yairi - at a big loss - for this thing. It's a 000 size, which lends itself to a great balance of lows and highs, and contributes to an overall clarity in the tone. My college roommate had a really nice Taylor that he just couldn't get the right sound from when he was recording, and borrowed this Alvarez on a lark. It turned out to be just what he wanted, and it sounded, again, a lot better than it should, based on its price tag. This one's in excellent shape with no flaws to speak of, aside from being embarrassingly dusty. I just don't have any use for a flattop, and haven't for a while. Street price $300, GRM price $250. I may have a case for this one for a few extra bucks. (It fits the Ibanez, too, so it's first come first served on the case.)

The Mongrel (upper right) is also for sale. It's a sawed-off mid '60s Hofner neck bolted to a Japanese semi hollow body of unknown origin, which was routed for two P90s and wiring access in back, seemingly by a drunken blind man. I'm not responsible for the construction of this guitar, nor the desecration of the Hofner that met its maker. However, funky, mojo-rific cosmetics aside, this is one of the better playing guitars I've ever had. The neck is an anomaly for something of its vintage - very wide and thin - and I actually got it set up pretty darn well, if I do say so myself. The P90s (also of unknown origin) have good bite like they should. It's funky, and probably a little scary at first glance, I'll admit, but it's damn nice guitar. If I don't get $300 or more for it, I'm keeping it, 'cause it's too cool to give away.

Personally, I'd be all over the Dano, if I wasn't so busy trying to convince Angel I really need a Gretsch Corvette.

Commentary: I miss my good ol' sunburst American Tele like I can't even describe. I was an idiot kid, got bored with it, and sold it to a buddy, who probably still has it.

I am making a wild assumption that that's what you're looking for?

Yeah, I'm looking for a Tele. I'd love an old one, but the prices are out of my league, unfortunately. I'm actually thinking about getting a custom made from a luthier I found who builds the bodies but uses off-the-rack necks. They're pretty nice looking, and they're well-reviewed.

The Harmony Rocket will remain my number one, but a Tele would compliment it nicely.

My Tele wasn't anything special as Teles go. I think it was an 89, twas an American standard model. Maple fretboard for ultimate twang. :) I talked myself into selling it by saying "eh, there are a million like it."

I like the looks of the AG75, but need a full-hollow box like a hole in the head.

Honestly, if you have any inkling toward a big hollowbody, you'd be hard pressed to do better than the AG, especially for such little money. It's really surprisingly nice to play. (And I'd say that even if I wasn't trying to sell it.)

Love the rocket...I'm looking for a 2 pickup in red. somewhere around the time they put the truss rod in the neck.

I've got two harmonys. a 1963, and a 1937. the '37 is like butter...just MELLOW tone. both are archtop acoustics...they're a blast.

Not sure about funds right now, but I'm definitely interested in the acoustic. Its a 000 you say? How big is the bout? I'm asking because I have a bad right shoulder, and if I'm playing a dreadnought or jumbo for very long I have to play standing up. Most 000's that I've had/played are pretty good. What is shipping to 60048? How much more for the case, and what kind of case?
