It's Austin's not very successful Land Rover competitor. Pretty much designed with military use only in mind, IIRC, as opposed to the Land Rover which was also designed with farmers in mind.
The 'Rolls Royce' drivetrain is most likely an engine similar to the one used in the Austin/Van den Plas Princess 4L R around the same time. And yes, that is an RR engine, but not one out of a really expensive car as you might think.
Several UK military vehicles used this engine or derivatives of it and IIRC there are also some military vehicles that use(d) the Jaguar twin cam engine in a detuned version.
Strangest Rolls Royce power I have ever seen was a semi tractor in Jamaica. Guy ran a heavy equipment moving company and had used this to haul heavy factory equipment into the mountains. Truck was almost 10' wide, engine appeared to be 7 or 8 feet long. Hadn't run in years, but was most impressive.
