If all else fails, pull this BMW v12 from the junkyard.

Has the ever been a v12 in the Challenge?
Yes. Robbie brought one in a 7 series BMW for the aristocrat class. But as far as I know, never a Jag V12.
Yeah, I would also like to be the first to bring a jag v12 and Merc v12 to really round out as the v12 challenge guy, but it's not in my cards for a few years.
I will have you guys know that the 7 was the highest placing BMW that year, and was also the fastest autox BMW (beating out an e30, e46, and e36 m3 automatic - admittedly I don't think the e30 was running quite right). I don't remember if the e36 m3 had me in the drags or not.
Indy, If you buy that xjr and want to repair it let me know. There is a 98 xj8 on my local cl that needs timing chain work (but still runs and drives) that I was considering buying to try a dculberson style part out.
Well, my S600 should be there this year. Hopefully it's competitive lol. I know it'll be out there with straight pipes!

We're four pages into this thread, and I'm not sure if there is a definate yes or no to the OP's question. Has a jaguar (of any type) ever been entered and competed in the $2000 challenge?

Dude- look at the last 14 years of results. The evidence is pretty clear that making north of 350hp with a GM v8 on a challenge budget is not only possible, but has been done many times. I don't understand why you can't see that.
On the other hand, nobody has brought a Jag to a challenge, in any form. So the question whether it's capable on a challenge budget or not is still quite open.
But there's no reason do doubt if a GM engine can do it- it's been done. There's no debate to that tiny fact. Given that the fast drag time in 2017 was under 10 seconds, I would suggest that well north of 400hp is possible with a GM on a Challenge budget.
So if you really think a Jag of any form can do it, bring it. Let alone it theoretically being easier.
You keep using the word theoretical. Obviously you fail to understand me. The picture next to my name is me on the pole of a race with a couple hundred million dollars worth of vintage race cars driving the Black Jack Special I paid $300 for.
Yes I won, including beating the 1957 Corvette SS the last factory race Car Chevy made before shutting down from the AAA ban on racing.
I also came in second to world famous racer Sir Sterling Moss driving the factory Aston Martin DBR2 but beating all the Chevy powered cars during the 1986 Bahama Speed weeks.
I don’t know how many Chevy powered cars I’ve beat with my little 258 cu in six. No not all of them but plenty. That engine other than pistons and cams was built with junkyard parts. Oh and later theoiling system.
I’ve built, raced, and won plenty of Chevy race cars including Winning the Milwaukee mile, Elkhart Lake several times, driving the DeMar Special. Sprint cars, and my own $300 Corvette in SCCA. When I say built I mean everything. Frame, engine trans, rear ends, paint body work etc.
I’ve a picture of me building my XKE V12 in front of my Black Jack and yes I paid $300 for the XKE. The one car I don’t have a picture of is the XJS I built for Champcar racing. That’s the one with 2 SAAB turbo’s, but it still shows up once in a while to do burn outs at the collector car show at the local drive in. Not that pretty but it conformed to the rules. ( then it didn’t, but now it does ) that one was a freebee from a buddy.
This is the Challenge forum. I don't see any Challenge plaques up there. I can show you two won by a 4 cam Japanese V8 if you want.

Can I enter and do well? Yes, We’ll see what priority it has.
I hope someone closer than 1500 miles away takes a look at Jaguar’s, recognizes the benefits and does it for me.
No one has ever brought a Jaaaag to the Challenge? Hmmm...
edit; OMG so many XJ8s with misfires near me under $2000

get the XJR. 370 factory horsepower and all the torques.
In reply to Karl La Follette :
Where is that at? The Alfa Spider behind the Jag will make an excellent Challenge car.
In reply to yupididit :
I clicked over there and found the car I want to buy:
Anyone in Central Florida want to enable a fly-n-drive?
In reply to Indy-Guy :
I'll drive and fly for gas, food, hotel, and plane tickets for Lil Stampie and I.
I'm an enabler, I'd pick you up at the airport, drive to get car or we can get it via trailer and can go over it in my shop before you hit the road. Inverness is about 90 min away from me, in Orlando, would be closer for someone from Tampa.
In reply to Stampie & Fladiver64 :
Ok, now I need to contact the seller and see what's what. The automotive ADHD is really strong.
