Exhaust already breaths enough for 135hp or so, so most of the work is on the intake. Stock manifold is pretty restrictive, but sidedraft manifolds are easy enough to get. Just takes some careful porting on the intake, new valves, and a good cam an you're at 125hp knocking on 140.
That or turbocharge an megasquirt it like I'm planning. I was hoping for 185 but last estimates put my project motor as easily exceeding that.
Of course the Miata drivetrain in the Opel would make power even easier to get.....
Really interested in the 4 door. Try to work something out.
FWIW I see a station wagon that looks like a late '50s Rekord along one of my sales routes...
I have one of those wagos too, if you get a chance ask if it's for sale for me....
Got an offer pending on the Manta but the Kadett is still available.
Would a set of fiberglass flares for either car sweeten the deal? I hae a set for each car I might consider selling, the Manta ones are almost 4" wide....
If no more interest by next weekend then I'm going to swap the motor from the Kadett into the Manta and drive it home so it won't have to be towed. Prices will change accordingly as a result.
I'm guessing the roof rack is not included on the Kadett?
Not for that price, but we could work something out. I have tons of Yakima stuff.
What's the chance that you would have the parts to convert this over to a manual transmission?
Not that I need another car but I'm still curious about this one. Someone had to post and bring it back to my attention.
I have 12 Opels right now and 25 more in parts. I'm pretty sure I have everything to convert either of the cars to manual transmissions. If I don't have it I can make it, and in the Manta the custom clutch cable mount is much nicer to work with than trying to weld on the stocker. Since both are auto trans cars now (with the larger transmission tunnels) I even have an adapter available to allow you to install a Chevy T5 instead of the Opel 4-speed.
How much would would you want for the adapter?

I had a batch of 10 adapters custom made this winter, just got them in a couple of weeks ago and have 2 left. They are $200 each, might wiggle a bit if you bought the car too.
79 opal where how much was the very first car I ever had.

So the motor is out of the Manta and if all goes well it'll be driving this weekend. Price goes up if it's a runner, so last chance....
Also, looks like I may have a GT for sale as well. Details sketchy, the car was mine years ago and is coming back to me, but it was a good runner back then and has been on blocks for the last 5 years.
Is the Kadett engine going in the Manta? (As you talked about earlier in this thread.)
If that's the case, how much would you sell the Kadett for after you pull the engine?
Nope, putting a different 1.9L Opel motor in the Manta. Forgot I still had one good runner left in the shop 'til I tripped over it the other day.
Why would you want the Kadett as a non-runner and not rather have the Manta?
Just curious. In case you wanted to sell it real cheap and I wanted to do an engine swap.
The problem is that I had already committed to buying another car and I'm having trouble finding the money in the budget. (Would really like to buy it.)
Kadett is now on e-vil-bay, should show up in searches soon, item # 330328578881

And Manta is sold. Thanks guys, and good luck to anyone who bids.
The 4-door just drove away too, so no more Opels for sale right now. Thanks guys!.
