I'm sure some crazy person here loves these.

Wow the rare turbo Muscort, probably the last one to survive!!!
Side note: My dad had a 1984-85 Turbo Escort GT with a 5-speed. I used to think it was the coolest car ever when I was little, way cooler than my mom's "Big Green Booger Machine" 70 Olds 98 Convertible. It was black with two tone orange side stripes and the 4-hole "phone dial" wheels. He always tells me how much of a turd it was and how the fuel pump quit on its way home from the dealer after he bought it new. But whatever, it was the 80's and it was so cool looking to my 4 year old eyes, like a big Hot Wheels or something.
I don't care... if I ever find one, I'm buying it.

I remember seeing these at the Chicago Auto show when they were first coming out. EXPerimental.

You actually like these things?
It's near the next event at Roos.
I KNOW.
And yes, I have a soft spot for EXPs and the early American Escorts, before they started REALLY moving away from being MkIIIs.
my first car was an 82 EXP, later had an 89 but no turbo's, I'd love to have another one one day and a turbo would certainly make the car more entertaining
and yes they are 2 seaters, think CRX before there was a crx, and I think the early notch back hatch looked better
Make mine a wagon. Wish I could find some spec on these. I looked up hp numbers on the 1.6T back around '99(when I owned an'87 EGT), and was horrified to see how much lower it was than the 1.9HO.
Edit: either time has not been kind to my memory, or I'm dumb. SS was appearance only, EGT/EXP 1.6 turbo '83+ was 120hp, 1 more than the 1.9HO cars.

The same 1.9L that infamously suffers disappearing valve syndrome?
Well, they don't really disappear, you do hear them quite well as they destroy things.

Couldn't tell you, the unibody on my EGT disappeared long before the engine let go.

The 2-liter (SOHC) has disappearing valve seat syndrome.
The 1.9 has disappearing cam lobe syndrome. (One of the #4 lobes just sort of wears down over time)
The 1.6 has random cylinder head crack syndrome.
Know your drugs, know your doses.
berkeley you, EvanB. I've been looking for a valid replacement for my '87 EXP Sport Coupe since before I even sold it... Now, you post this exactly one week after I buy a new car. Hate.
