Now that I have a child on the way, its time to unload a hooptie. My 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit L - aka Cool Runnings. Bought it right off this forum a couple of months ago, slapped some new parts on it, now its ready for a cage to go LeMons racing or BABE rallying. Its the 1.7, 8 valve carbed model with the 4 speed manual. Painted it Satin Italian Green, new wheel bearings, alternator, new yellow headlights as well as the stock ones, BBS wheels, extra set of steelies with pretty much new tires on it, newer KYB GR2 rear shocks, GTI steering wheel. It has some crappy sunroof in it that leaks when it rains so not good as a daily driver in Hurricane season. Its got rust, not a whole lot, but it has it. Odometer doesnt work, no radio, no air or heat, roll up windows barely work. Its just a running hooptie. Recently featured in this issue in the "Readers Rides" section. Since im in Georgia, all you need is a Bill of Sale, and no Emissions. It would be prefect for Lemons...
$500, come and drive it out of my driveway....
what she looked like when i got her...
what she looks like now...
Interested and in Covington, GA. Did you buy this off of Dave a while back?

come on peoples!! a running, driving hooptie!
Bumping this sale for the awesome avatar pic Rusty has.
I would be interested if I didn't already have a $500 VW hooptie in my garage that's supposed to be turned into a challenge car over the next 3 months.

If I hadn't bought the GRM Neon recently, I'd have been all over this. My wife has me on a "one hooptie at a time" plan.

Have the title for it or just a bill of sale?
no need for a title in GA, so only a Bill of Sale

Que?
It's true, for cars in GA older than 1987 all you need is a Bill of Sale. Take that to the DMV with the VIN written on it and get your plate. Easy.
Is it up to 87? I thought it was 85.
Sweet, I can register my car now.
Does anyone know the law in KY on titles? I wonder if I can find $500.

i have no idea on how titling works in Kentucky, trying to find out...
Let me know what you find. I have a title-less car that I'd love to make legal again.
Ok, from what i was just told by a county clerk in Kentucky, all the buyer would need is the previous owners regristration, Bill of sale, and a note stating due to the age of the car and the law in Georgia no title is required.

All right, so that raises a question for me.
There's no such thing as a title in GA for a pre 1986 car. The state WON'T issue one.
There's GOT to be a way to transfer ownership legally to an out-of stater from a place like VA.
How do you sell an old car?? I've got several cool hot rods worth a good deal of money- are you saying I can't sell them to an out-of stater?

Nope. It's 1986.
'86 needs a title, '85 does not.
I know, because I just titled an '86 yesterday, and asked the DMV while I was there.

I just bought a 79 RX-7 from GA. At least in FL you need the registration from the GA owner and a Bill of Sale. Then FL will need to verify the VIN (they do this with all out of state vehicles).
Well I have the current registration so no worries there. COME AND GET THIS before i make it a track slut...
