Hi all,

We've been kicking around this idea ever since the feedback from last year's town hall, so I wanted to give everybody a preview of what we're thinking. Consider this map a back-of-the-napkin sketch.

What's going on? Basically, we'll use the staging lanes as our autocross grid, effectively moving the event's center of mass closer to restrooms, food, shade, etc. etc. It will also make the autocross course a bit more exciting, and make logistics way easier for everybody.

There is one downside: We'll have less pavement for the paddock, as the most convenient spot for it would be all of the access roads immediately opposite the staging lanes.  Considering how common grass paddocks are in the world of autocross, I don't anticipate this being a major issue.

Any thoughts? And here's a satellite view to give you an idea of the paddock:

I am not opposed to the paddock being on the grassy area.

Will have to remember to bring some squares of plywood for jack stands...

I also do not dislike this.  It will reduce it eliminate the need to pack up all my junk Saturday night to move it for drags and the concourse

I like it. Keeps everything in one place the whole weekend. Easier for logistics definitely.

The U-turn in the staging lanes may be difficult for some cars but as long as it's coned as wide as possible it should be fine.

Will a designated paddock be fenced or roped off? Otherwise any yahoo off the street could drive into our paddack while sketchy racecars are criss-crossing the access roads. In the past I think a registration wristband was required to enter paddock.

It kind of looks like that U-turn could be eliminated.  Just let the line extend out toward the grass/paddock

I like the idea overall.

Good idea. Having to pit wayyyyy far from the bathrooms then pack everything up and move it later on sucked big time

For jacking safety is it possible spots could be two wide.  The pavement being pit spot.  Right side on grass being tow vehicle and left side grass being travel lane?

Smart decision.

Was coming to suggest something like that

I like this a lot. Will tech still be at the far end or will it also move to the staging end as well?
