That's right, the seeds you would need to plant to grow your own Miata:
-1.8L motor
-5-speed transmission
-engine wiring harness
-dash cluster
-ECU
-rear suspension assembly
-set of Daisy wheels with autocross tires on them and a spare set of old tires
-Escort distributor in case you were thinking carbs
Add this seed material to one of Metalman's Miata chassis and you could build your own track rat for under $750. Delivery available to the Atlanta area for gas $, otherwise come get it.
Actually, delivery available anywhere within 200 miles of 29671, and I'll even go pick up one the cars from Metalman and deliver it too at the same time for gas $ and something for my time. Trades possible too for stuff that's smaller and easier to move.
how much for the daisies, and what size?
Aren't all Miata Daisy wheels 14x6-ish? Not sure on the tire sizes, I'd have to look.
Wasn't planning on splitting the parts up. Pretty much figure I'll need all or none of it myself to build my own track Miata, so if I sold the wheels now and nothing else sells then I'd be trying to buy another set of wheels myself. That and I'm not asking much for the works, so not really interested in splitting things up right now.
what year miata is the motor/tranny from?
I think most of the daisies were 14x5.5" according to the miata.net garage faq...

Why is the timing of these things always just a little off? This would go nicely into the Lotus 7 chassis I haven't started building yet. If it isn't sold after the 1st week of August I'll come and get it since I'll be driving to VIR.
if it's the right year, it will be sold this weekend... :)
Engine is apparently a '96. Bored 0.040" over and new gaskets and such, bottom end rebuild, never fired.
Details here
I'll actually be out of town this weekend, but any evening this or next week would be fine or the following weekend I'll be here whenever.

If you wanted to pick up one of the TIG welded LOCOST chassis from that GRMer in KY I'd pick it up and deliver it along with the Miata parts as well for just gas $. Drop-off service....

I have plans to build my own although that price seems really good for the labor + steel costs. In any case - I'll ping you in a couple weeks and if its still there we can figure out how to get it into my truck. At that price I suspect it will be long gone.
okay, the motor sounds good to me... How much for just the motor and tranny if I come and pick it up next weekish?
another question, do you have the diff that goes with this setup? or just the rear suspension assembly (sans diff)?
The rear suspension is the whole works, diff and all, and could actually include an RX7 diff as well if that would help (easier to mount in a LOCOST). If you want just the engine and trans without anything else I'd go $300, and I'll keep the rest for the partially complete LOCOST in my own garage and just use an Opel drivetrain. I won't need the Miata diff, though, and would include that if you want it and want to take it out of the rear suspension while you're here.
The rest of the parts, then, ECU, dash, wiring, wheels and such would be for sale if anyone wants them. Your best bargain would be to buy the lot ans sell off the parts you don't want.
the $300 for the motor, trans, diff and rear suspension setup sounds like a good deal to me! I will pm you with a phone number...
Thank you!
No, motor plus trans for $300, with no wiring or accessories or rear suspension. If you want just the Miata differential out of the suspension and you want to pull it out yourself then you can have it with the engine and trans but I'll kep the axles and suspension parts to use with my RX7 differential in my LOCOST.
If you want the entire rear suspension assembly then you might as well buy the whole works and sell the wheels to the guy above who wants them.
ahh, I gotcha... is this a limited slip diff? if it is, I will yank the diff too...
Not a limited slip, just a regular old rear assembly.
okey dokey. I'll take it anyway... :) Did you get my PM?
edit: I may end up taking the whole shebang, as my whole rear suspension is pretty darn rusted together...
I really don't need the extra set of wheels though :(
So get the guy above to buy them from you and send me the $.... ;)
thus far, I think he still has it all...
The whole works is still in the storage unit until someone gets here to collect it or I buy a Miata chassis to put it in.
