Weather forecast currently shows PM thunderstorms on Thursday (40%) and thunderstorms for Fri and Sat (50% both). Make sure you take this into account in your tire options (if possible, budget/class) and gear for working the autocross course. If you are bringing pop-ups, make sure to bring tie-down options. FL storms usually have some wind with them.

Most of all, stay really positive that the drags don't get rained out again.

I'm going to puke if it rains.

luckily forecasts 6 days out aren't the most accurate thing

i can go from a7's to 500tw all seasons by changing the spreadsheet, but have zero desire to do so.

So, honest question:

The budget is done with excel prior to the challenge. If it rains day of, and we change to all seasons, how do we change the budget sine the books are turned in first thing?

I'd assume ask for book back and cross it out and do some hand written math

I'd build and print 2 spreadsheets with different tire options, JIC.

Rain sucks, but it could boost the chances of a Gastropod in the top 20...hmmm...nah still hoping for dry. If I want crappy weather I can just stay home lol.

Advantage 1 of flat towing - we should have one good set of road tires in case it rains...

Buying those westlakes may not have been such a poor choice! No it was. #daily

In all honesty the Westlakes are a bit terrible in the wet, at least on my Miata. It'll be dry, you'll be fine. laugh

I remember the Jeep XJR sweeping the field on a wet course with Hoosiers. Unless the puddles are deep, I doubt another tire will be faster.

In my limited experience, all of Florida has at least a 40% chance of rain at any given time anyway.

Don't worry, if we string together enough EZ-up tents we can cover at least the first 1/8 mile of the drags. The braking zone would be pretty scary but braking doesn't affect E.T.!

we could make a TV show. Call it the "spin zone" - wait that name might be taken, but I'm pretty sure our show would be better.

Quite probably, i have not been to a track all year so if my one opportunity to race gets rained out it'll likely trigger some horrible reflux.  It was a very bad summer for deaths and family stuff and being forced to do things that weren't planned yet, so racing took the ultimate back seat to life.

And just a FYI, we do have a rain contingency plan in place, and rain Friday night doesn't necessarily mean we will not drag race. Keep an eye on the Challenge site as the event gets closer and the forecast solidifies.

We don't need no stinkin contingency plan, it's going to stay dry.

Tell me about it. I skipped the challenge last year cause I didn't have time to finish my list of improvements. So I'd have another full year to finish up with plenty of time for lots of testing. And you know what... I only finished a couple things on the list and the only time I've started the car in more than a year was right before I loaded it on the trailer.

But hey, I've had lots of family experiences instead.
