This scares me a little

Is it really THAT evil?
Patrick:
You didn't mention any of it's times. This car did well, and should be interesting to a lot of racers. The performance stats in the ad may help your sale.
I'm sad to see this one leave the family. Too bad it's Christmas time- not too much cash floating around.
What's the price for cash before the end of the auction?

somewhere between "wow, that's really cheap" and "holy E36 M3, that's really expensive" would work.
edit: to a known challenger, you'd still have enough money in the budget to get the flywheel resurfaced, a new clutch disc, and a set of used hoosiers, assuming of course that you do all the disassembly and reassembly.
the auction ends in less than three days. could you really pick it up before then?
No, I could not.
Besides, if I did I'd have to enjoy sleeping in it, because my wife would never let me back in the house.
I was kinda asking on behalf of others, kinda dreaming.

i figured you were, but i didn't want to call you out on it.
motor's nothing special. hydraulic flat-tappet cam, 9:1 CR, you could duplicate it for a lot less than this car will sell for.
or you could buy the car and part it out after running it in the $2010 Challenge. seriously, it's only a clutch away from 12.90's.
Soooo close to bidding, but transport costs would come close to punting me out of 2010 budget, definitely wouldn't leave room for nitrous and clutch.

i'd be willing to bet that this board could find a way to get this car to you at zero impact to your challenge budget.
in fact, aren't you a long-lost friend of mine, and you just decided to come for a visit? strange coincidence that i would have a car for sale and you'd want to buy it while coming to visit a long-lost friend.
NOTE: I do not condone circumvention of Challenge rules. The above is a hypothetical example of how shipping costs may not always show up in a Challenge budget.
I'll bet there are a few snipers. But wow...what a car. Any power level you want in a car that handles...
In reply to AngryCorvair:
Can't say that thought never crossed my mind ;)
Looks like it's up to almost $2k now though! Congrats, hope it snipes for even higher for you.
closed at $1,925.00
which is less than i wanted but more than i would've accepted, so i'm gonna call it a win.

I'm thinking early corvair sedan with SBC mounted transversely under the rear window, powering through a Fiero 5-speed. but that's probably two years from beginning.
shorter-term, nothing at all. staying focused on reuniting my family, ie selling this house and moving us all somewhere in the Charlotte NC area.
buyer is 1.5 hours South of Chicago. i just spent about an hour on the phone with him. he seems like a really cool old-school hot-rod guy who got into 944s a few years ago. saw it on a random 944 search, had never heard of Renegade Hybrids so did some research and realized that it's three grand without an engine or a car, so he jumped in. i told him about the Challenge, my previous experience there with Corvairs etc. he asked "what do you win?" to which i replied "the admiration of a bunch of the coolest mutant gearhead freaks ever assembled!" he said "that is quite possibly the best prize ever." so it sounds like he gets it. would be cool to see it again at the $2010 event.
i'll be sad to see it go when he picks it up tomorrow, but glad to have my wife off my ass about it.
You'll need to log in to post.
