Let me know what you've got. Challenge budget is nice, but cool to spend up to $3k for a nice example.

If Pathfinder, needs to be V6, 4wd, and 5spd.

Cherokee needs to be 4x4 and 4.0, don't care about trans or number of doors.

The "similar" is likely to be Toyota 4Runners or Land Cruisers. Mileage doesn't bother me, rust does.

Open to Land Rovers if they're REALLY cheap for minimal financial risk.

I'm located in Indianapolis, willing to travel for the right deal, otherwise let's keep it in the surrounding states.

That Landy berkeleying rocks.

Do you have an aversion to the Chevy offerings? I sho do like this Suburban.

I don't want anything as big as a Burban, and honestly, that Land Cruiser is pushing the size envelope.

No Burbans, no durangos, no blazers, no explorers. I'd take a Bronco II if i wasn't told that they were such gigantic piles of crap.

I know where a v6 5 speed 4x4 pathfinder is for 700. Was told it needs a clutch and some other little things. It's white with blue interior. I'll give you the number if you want. It's in Fairview TN and I could swing by and take picture for you if you don't mind a project. This guy owns a salvage yard and I've bought as few things from him....pretty decent guy but he haggles very little.

I thought about buying it, but already have a couple of Suburbans and a Cherokee. Honestly I LOVE the suburbans. Not trying to change your mind....just my opinion after owning the big and little SUVs. I used to have an aversion to large SUVs, but have been assimilated. I still have my Cherokee though and doubt I'll ever part with it, but I drive the burbs(s) more.

Thanks for the offer, but i'm looking for something i can just pick up and drive for the moment. Any work should be pretty minor and be able to wait until it warms up.

yeah I hear you. I'm in project car hell right now, so I know the feeling of wanting something to just pick up and drive.

I forget what happened here....is you're Wife getting the Cherokee now? I thought you had just made some nice improvements to it.

Cherokee has always been the wife's. And yes, i did just rebuild the entire suspension/steering setup, figured i'd lift it while i was in there and upsize to 30" tires.

She likes it.

Basically if i get another XJ, she'll take the nicer of the two. Anything else, and it's probably going to be mine, and then i won't have to borrow her XJ every time i decide the MX6 needs another 100hp or have to carry a motor somewhere.

The MSM is going away on Monday, so we need a 3rd vehicle of some sort that either of us are willing to drive. (I didn't say "can," because she CAN drive the MX6, she just refuses to.)

I hate red cars. Saw the red, was sad.

Saw the red interior, was extremely happy inside.

Wonder how much damage is under that crunched front bumper. I'll definitely contact them, thank you!

Anyone know anything about the 2nd gen Pathfinders? They seem to be pretty cheap, and i'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Unibody (like the XJ), VG33 until 2001 then it got the VQ35. Both are good engines. Don't know much other than that. I would imagine the VQ35 would be a lot nicer to live with but IDK if it was available with a manual transmission.

Noisy timing chain tensioner is a common problem on the VQ. No guarantee that's the actual problem though.

Thanks man, i'm going to look more into this chassis and see what their deal is. I'm a little worried it's going to be more like a car and less like a truck. I kindof like my SUVs to feel like trucks.

I really really like the first one, but it's a bit expensive. Wtf is that Bruno thing in the back?

Fuel pump require dropping the tank? About how many hours should the trans take to r&r and how easy are they to find? Thinking that one is cheap enough that I could farm it out.
