Swanky, if you pick up a pathy, I'll sell you an adapter for bolting the stock nissan flywheel to an LSx for cheeeap. Just add 5.3/4.8 and mix well.

Hey, sorry, I've been away from this thread for too long.
Trooper transmissions aren't tough to take out at all. On my first-gen, with air tools I can pull the transmission/transfer case in a little more than 1.5 hours. 2nd-gens are very similar.
2nd-gen transmissions are between $300 and $700. I paid $450 shipped from Washington for my transmission for my first-gen, and that was guaranteed to be good.
