How much would you pay for this? I think 800 is steep, especially since it hasn't a title. It has been over 30 years since it was on the road and registered in the other person's name but I am worried about title. The rust can always be handled but even if it had a title wouldn't 800 be steep for it?

"Could be worth a check, might be a diamond in the rough."

JThw8 speaks the truth ! ! !

Concise and correct.

The price is just a suggestion, up to you to offer what you can afford and negotiate from there. Honestly, the $800 has no basis in reality.

Fully research the title issue first and see if it makes sense as a project, then proceed.

1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle Sleeper Project - $800 (Worcester) MA http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/5314570753.html

This is a 1971 SuperBeetle project that would be a great restoration or rat rod candidate. It was an abandoned vehicle that I bought to restore but I have no time to do so. It is 99 percent rust free, the only spots of rust I noticed were small spots at the bottom of the door jambs. The motor had water in it and is locked up but I have seen these engines sit for much longer than the 3 years this sat and run. It has dual carbs (currently off), disc brakes, fiberglass fenders, after market wheels, and supposedly a built motor. One interesting thing about it was that it was originally an auto stick transmission byt a hydraulic racing clutch was added to make it a 3 speed manual. I have only ever heard of one other beetle in the country with this setup. Obviously needs to be worked on but it is an incredibly solid start. No title but one can be applied for. Worth more in parts, looking to part ways soon though. Email or text preffered.

A super beetle needing all that work isn't worth 800

Lol. A super beetle with a locked motor, fiberglass senders and no title. What could be wrong.

Well what about how rare auto stick was. Still can't believe how long Porsche used those.

He's been trying to sell that pile for a long time now. I keep trying to figure out if there's any way to make that kit look good (I like a challenge) but I can't seem to find one. It looks less bad, still not good, on a convertible where the roof proportions don't throw it all off but in general its just really bad.

Chop the top, add whale tail, and fill the wheel wells with bigass slicks? Idk, that would do it for me

It already has the whale tail. Its just hideously ugly, the proportions are all wrong. For $500 I'd find a way to fix it. For $2500 the seller can stare at that pile in his driveway for a long time. Its about 20 minutes from my house though.

Darn ! ! !

NOW I want THAT thing ! ! ! Betcha that you could mount most of that fiberglass on a 1959 Saab 93, lower the whole shell over a Porsche 914 unibody tub, paint it satin black with gloss black stripes, fill in any gaps with louvered aluminum plate riveted in place, and have one PISSA Street Sweeper for pretty short money.

Not sure how this would work geographically, but this looks like a good deal.

Got the 67. Empi mods. Ghia disks up front. Has most of the 67 only stuff. Needs pans, paint and sorting. Lots of spares. Anyone need anything?
