I have $1000. I want another Miata (I had one until the transmission blew up as a result of the previous owner's abuse).
Musts:
Manual transmission. An automatic Miata is like Britney Spears: it should never have been conceived.
The top doesn't have to be perfect, but it shouldn't be shredded. I live in Cleveland and will drive this every day, no matter the weather.
Within a 24-hour roundtrip drive of Cleveland, OH.
Things I'd like to have:
LSD (no, not the stuff you'd have to be on to expect a decent Miata for $1000, I'm talking about a limited slip differential)
"Flaws" that I don't mind at all:
Minor mechanical work needed. (Bad alternators, starters, ps, radiator, water pump, suspension work, etc.)
Half-completed race car projects (Ohio has no safety inspection. Ghetto-fabbed cage? No interior? No problem!)
Ugly on the outside (Primer, different-color panels, dents, stickers, etc.)
High mileage
Broken glass.
Deal-breakers:
No structural rust. The fenders can flap in the breeze, the drain holes can be rotted to the circumference of my head, I just don't care. But no subframe/structural rust.
No salvage titles.
No cars that need engines, transmissions, clutches, or bizarre, hard-to-diagnose electrical problems.
