I have acquired an 03 MINI with a bad second gear. I would like to give the collective first shot at this. I'm in south central Pennsylvania. What say you?

A regular MINI , or the "S" version?

In reply to DeadSkunk: Regular garden variety. That said, will an S trans or 6 spd fit?

It can be done, but you have to change axles and other stuff.Read this....

A replacement Midland transmission is at least 1200 bucks and will only break again with spirited use. The much better 5 speed Getrag in the late 04, 05 & 06 will be hard to find but should be an easy swap. The 6 speed is a good conversion, there are plenty out there but requires what the article describes.

Would it be safe to say that "Midlands is the new Lucas?"
