The window problem is normally a $5 roller that takes 10 minutes to fix. I have had a couple of Saabs like this one, and if it checked out would own another one.
Are the gearboxes in these any stronger than in the earlier turbos?

These things have nearly nothing in common with the old c900s. The gearboxes are just fine. You'll want some polyurethane motor mounts though....
....And check the oil pan for sludge.....
...And the stock turbo is junk,but the turbo from an aero is a bolt in upgrade for durability and power.
Hmmm a SAAB from Chitown, I wonder how many bolts you'll actually be able to take off the underside without a cutting torch. 
I'm used to crusty nuts (and bolts!)
The passenger side damage has me hesitating.
