Time for LSx?
Those are getting easy to find for less than challenge money. I've always kinda liked em, JAG reliability has always kept me away from em. There was a three pedal option, so yeah a lsx and t56 would go a long way towards making me want one again.
E36 M3, 30 seconds on e-bay shows 3.0L engines from $400 - $1,500. This looks like a screaming deal. Are these things really that bad to own and work on?

Well it did get to 200k miles, quite unlike any biturbo on the face of the earth.
I kinda like these cars. They remind me of the old MkIIs, which I love.
There is one of these in the local P&P they are selling it whole but it needs a trans. I think they are asking 2895. I have been tempted but at the moment I dont have the time to swap a trans. I have not bothered to look at what a used trans costs.

If it is a 01 S with a 3.0 I6 in it, it is a Ford 5R55N/S/W, so any Tom, Dick, or Harry at the local trans place can rebuild it.... As to a used box, good luck, Jag/LS specific case, and then you are still stuck with it being a 5R55N/S/W POS.....
