When i hit the CL email link to reply, my Yahoo Email responds with:
Multi-Hop Cycle Detected
Your request is prohibited because it would cause a cycle.
Does this mean scam or is there an error in my email?
Not sure...It shouldn't show up as a scam that fast if it was since all the emails are routed through the CL address.
Edit: I sent an email, worked for me.

I resent another email through a little used gmail address in case it starts a spam fest.
The link worked fine for me. I'm local to that car if anyone wants someone to look at it for them.

Wow, www.car-parts.com shows that junkyard transmissions are $3k.
Maybe that's why it is so cheap.
Yep. The CVT autos are junk and eat themselves apart from the inside.
Even when they "work", the MINI CVT is crap. Not sure what it would take to convert to 5/6 speed. They don't use a transmission control module, just a translator box, so it might be simple.

Have you gotten a response? I have not?
The ad is from yesterday morning so I wonder if we are a day late.

I'm local-er.
Not if you're in Medina. I'm about 10 minutes from there. But hey, if you want to go look at it for someone, that's fine with me!
I'm after it as well.... :)
i can check it out as well. just gimme the contact info. heck i can probably even trailer it home for ya for gas/beer money.
I haven't got a response to my email, it is probably gone.
FYI: TO replace the CVT w/manual, you will need to have someone reprogram a few things in the car to even make it run. A few shops will do this for 500-1000$. Looking at the average price of used 6 speeds, and new wear items (clutch, TO bearing, etc) I was coming up with ~4000K to DIY + the reprogram.
2 shops quoted me $5-5500 for a tow in/drive out conversion. Pricey, but cheaper than a rebuilt CVT (6K) and less than a good running 6 speed car (10-12K).

Swap in something else, maybe some honda power.
Its probably a good candidate for EV conversion, if anyone here swings that way.
I'd be cool dropping it off, and handing my wife the keys to a mini for a toy while being in it for half what it's worth.

$1500 MINI + used Honda drive train = cool daughter's car...hmmm.

Am I the only one that thinks it's not that great of a deal? $5500 to put in a 5 speed or $6000 for a CVT. That puts me at $7-7500 in a car that I can buy for $8000 and not do the work.
There is an 03 with 62K miles on it for $6800 on Auto Trader...
There are a bunch of 02-03 base minis for under $10K, some with high miles, but more goodies. I don't think it is worth messing with
I would do it but it wouldn't be getting the stock transmission or engine put back in.
