Thank you for being 2500 miles away, thus saving me $1400.
I want a corvair, but not an auto. But that one is so clean I would buy it if I had a tow vehicle.

The auto trans is a powerglide, and these cars are fun with that trans. I grew up driving a '67 110/pg. It was a blast. My dad has, in his heated garage, a '64 Monza Spyder, 4 speed, same color and similar miles and condition, but the engine has been removed. Some day, I'd like to find a turbo engine to put back in it. CM mag has a cool Corvair in their last few issues. I need more money and time...
In reply to Kramer:
There's nothing fun about a powerglide...IMO, of course.
Drag racers seemed to like them.
In reply to 914Driver:
That's because they work well for drag racing, not because they are fun.
With a high winding mill they are a blast. Otherwise not so much
IMO, less gears means you need more torque, not RPM, but waddaino.
this car is no rocket, its no mountain road carver. but its cool to just drive around and enjoy it for what it was designed to do at the time. so often we as "car guys" forget this. sometimes its nice just to cruise and for $1,400.00 thats a lot of cruising for a little amount. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/grin-18.png)

Yes, and I need to apologize. My comments about the powerglide weren't intended to be in reference to your car, but it was my mistake to think that it wouldn't be. I've had a couple cars in the past with PG's, and they are fine transmissions, especially for just cruising around. I have also always wanted a Corvair, so no hate intended here. Again, sorry for unintentionally pissing on your ad.
BTW, think it would be drive-able from your place to northeast ohio?
In reply to bravenrace:
my reply had nothing to do with your response. what i really like about this site is people do not put down ideas or cars. what has been said about the PG tranny is 100% true. i just wanted readers to stop and think about the car from a different angle and not just from a performace angle. which is very hard sometimes for people like us and myself very much included.
We're not all about the "performance angle". That's a coolass car, I've owned three. Yours is a particularly nice example I've been successful at ignoring.
Someone buy this please, so I move my mind along!
Thank you. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/cool-18.png)
Corvairs are a downright bargain as collector cars go. This is a steal for a bargain. I may be up in MD soon...
