NMNA.
I called on this and got a very spacey, fast talking college kid. We dicked around all weekend (actually he slept) and never got together. The second ad below is his second listing.
He bought the car for $1500., gave the guy $1,000 and drove the car home to get the other $500. Rear main seal puked so he said screw it, I'm not paying the guy.
He owes his mechanic friend $600 for the rebuild and owes his Dad $800 for the original purchase. He told me he's moving at the end of October, though his ad says this weekend.
He said in an email that a guy offered a Buick Century for trade that he was asking $1800 for. If I made a comparable offer, cash is better.
I don't think he'd like my offer.....
It is clean, someting doesn't feel right.

Sounds like you haven't seen it in person? Have you seen other pictures of it? Not sure I'd conclude that it's clean from those pictures.
Haven't seen it in person, probably won't.
I guess "clean" is a relative term; it's surprisingly rust free compared to other 44 year old cars in this area.

How can you tell? I can't tell anything from that picture.
In reply to 914Driver:
I see a bunch of black primer, which usually indicates body work, which sometimes indicates bondo, which can indicate former holes. But I can't even see the black part well enough to tell if there's any body there at all.

Seems sketchy, based on the "eff paying the guy off" situation.

I see no gaping holes.
Ahh the ny state way I determining a clean vehicle. Of you can't fit a finger through the rust holes, it's clean.
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine:
Same in PA. So I bought a truck from an auction just to find out it's from PA. Thing rusted out in less than a year because the PO did a hack job of patching up rust holes.
If I had known it was a PA truck, I would never have bought it. All my cousins live in PA, and I've seen the pieces of crap they just keep patching up because if it doesn't have a hole it's okay. What a load of crap. All that law does is encourage people to do E36 M3ty patch up jobs on their cars so they pass inspection.
