I found another car I have insane amounts of want for, so I'm offering up my other projects to make space/funds available, so here's the skinny:
She is a 1973 w114 Mercedes-Benz 280 Sedan in Red, which will shine up very nicely with a good buff. She has the m110 2.8l inline 6-cylinder engine, with 67,xxx miles on the odometer. I have stacks and stacks of paperwork that all indicate these are original miles, and that I am only the fourth owner. The engine does run, I hooked up a new battery, installed a new coil and plugs and she fired right up and idled. The carb most likely needs to be cleaned and/or rebuilt from sitting, but it is still in working condition. I did not try to move the car under her own power, as the throttle linkage was partially disconnected. I did flush and change the oil with Castrol Synthetic. I also have purchased a new fuel pump, air filter, trunk seal, new rubber fuel lines, and a few other odds and ends that will be included with the sale. I have two complete sets of wheels; the original steel wheels with chrome/red hubcaps (tires are shot), as well as a set of newer Mercedes alloys with good Toyo rubber on them. Also includes a full 3-volume shop manual detailing every inch of the car, engine, and systems.
I picked her up last December, she had been sitting for awhile and needed new front floor pans. Both footwells had rusted quite significantly. I purchased new pans and spent the better part of the summer cutting and trimming to get them to fit in the hopes of making it to the Wolfsgart car show. Various welder issues put the project on hold, but the new pans are there and (very) roughly tacked in place. It will need some welding work and some extra metal to patch the missing areas. I removed the dash, interior, fuel lines, and gas tank to do the work.
She has the older chrome bumpers without the ugly over-riders that started in late '73 to meet new crash regulations. Very nice brown vinyl interior (one torn seam on bottom front of one seat, and the back driver's corner of the headliner has come untucked, both easy fixes). Exterior is pretty nice for its age, there is some small damage to the front bumper and area around the driver's headlight that appears to have been repaired at one point. And again, the paint is faded and a bit dirty, but with some elbow grease and a buffer she will be an absolute gem.
This is a fantastic start for an easy restoration project. I really don't want to sell it, but circumstances are such that I'd like to see someone actually finish and enjoy it. Email through this ad if you want to come look at it. The car will need to be towed, but I'm happy to help load it on a trailer/dolly. I have bucketloads of more photos, so if there's anything you want to see, let me know!
Asking $2000, or throw me an offer. Always willing to deal.
