1977 Maverick, Ultimate Road Trip Car

The car from this thread. Current pictures are in this album. Located at my house in Quakertown PA. Asking $1200- which is what we paid for it, but includes spares/tools/everything we bought for the trip. The car has a C4 automatic and the 250ci straight 6, mileage unknown.

Good:
-Runs fairly well
-Rust free!
-Paint in pretty good shape
-Proven to be capable of driving 3500 miles with only the most basic repairs
-Sweet roof rack! (negotiable)
-Relatively new tires, dist cap+rotor, thermostat, spark plugs

Bad:
-Interior ratty
-Instruments mostly missing
-Many squeaks and rattles
-A/C non functional
-No heater core
-Cylinder 2 spark plug fouls every 700 miles or so

In a perfect world, I would love to see this car go to another GRMer, who would then roadtrip the thing somewhere else, sell to another GRMer, rinse and repeat. I'll be happy to answer any questions regarding condition, and take pictures of requested parts.

Here's your chance to put up or shut up, boyos. Everyone who wants to "Maverick this Forward" should line up to hand this man 1200 bucks (no haggling, ya tight-fisted bastids!) and go on an adventure. And then sell it to the next one in line.

I have a 14 month old, and we're not road-tripping anywhere very adventurous soon, or I'd do it. What's YOUR excuse?

I have an 11 month old and an Infiniti Q45 or I would be taking this from PA to The Challenge!
It would be nice to have The Maverick visit The Challenge.

I'm in the process of moving, buying a house, AND dealing with a damn truck that doesn't seem to want to be fixed. Otherwise, if it's still for sale when we get the house and I get to make the move to WV to be with SWMBO. I will DEFINITELY consider picking it up to try and fix a few items for a spring break/beginning of summer road trip. I doubt I'll be up there in time to get it to the challenge.

...And that's not because of the car - I just can't take the plunge on ANY car right now. In fact I will have a V8 drivetrain you could drop into this for this for sale shortly I think.

My excuse is that I would need six seats and that I don't have $1200.

But yeah, this is a cool car, bump for coolness.

arrrg. The forces drawing me to this thing are very very strong.

Is the motor front sump oil pan? Please tell me it isn't because that would mean the BMW v12 swap that is on my mind is even one step easier.

Also please tell me you are in no way shape or form interested in a trade for an 84 f250 diesel 4 spd 4x4 that is rust free but needs a clutch.

I believe it is front sump. If that f250 is a crew cab you might be in trouble...

I don't know if the 6 is, but I can tell you the chassis will definitely fit a front sump pan. I just spent 3 days staring at mine. Then I put a floor jack through it. Fun week here.

If it's front sump a 460 big block should fit just dandy.

I happen to have a spare 460 big block.

I have 3 '98-'02 P71 16 x 7 wheels with one good tire and two severely cracked ones!

Trades considered! Interested in trailer, tow rig, motorcycle, DH mountain bike... maybe other things, but with the RX7 approaching "full exploded view" I need the garage space.

Since so few go looking for Mavericks, it may be wise to add some keywords like Mustang, Falcon, Fairmont.
Maybe drop in the following sentences.

More unique than a Mustang, Falcon or Fairmont. Rust free body would be a solid base for building a drag car or your own car show creation resto mod.

And, just for nostalgia, add the keyword "Shagadelic" since the LA seller had that in his ad!
