NMNA...
When I can, I try to evangelize for the Mazda GC bodies ('83-'87 626). I really dig these cars and happen to own two of them. They are like lighter weight, more directly connected versions of the MX6es which have of late enjoyed the promotion of Swank Force One, myself, and others. They've got an angular but jaunty '80s-ness to them that I find charming. They also have the nice seats, oscillating vents, and fine ergonomics of the GD cars.
They don't come up often, but here is one for sale.
'84 626 on CL
It looks like a pretty decent example, but check out the rear strut towers for rust.
I'm assuming this isn't a GT right?
No, it is not. Still cool though. It's a unique daily driver or engine swap candidate. Or both.
Love the boxiness...what motor is in there? Will the amazing F2T fit? ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
It's the early carburetted FE 2.0. Which got fuel injection in '86 IIRC along with the turbo version, the FET, which is what I'm replacing with the Mazda KL V6 in my slow moving build thread.

Swapping an F2T "correctly" (That is, with the stronger gearbox) poses some interesting problems.
If you want boosty goodness, go with the FET "Magnum" that James mentioned. It's also a very good motor. Not as bonkers as the F2T, but will make plenty of power to make you giggle in the smaller, lighter GC chassis.
Anyone close enough to this to look at it for me? I am really interested, but not close by.
Chris
I like these cars, too, for their "different, but not oddball" looks....somewhat Euro-looking?
As a coupe with a 5 speed, I'd be on that if it was closer. I really like the wheels, too.
In this area (northeastern Fl.) there are 2 or 3 sedans of that vintage that I see on an irregular basis, I even saw a 5 door "Touring" a few weeks ago.
This model pre-dates the hidden headlight Accord, and looks much cooler. It even gives (in coupe form) the same year Prelude a run for the money in the style department.
I just saw that the ad has been revised to show a $1200 asking price. $100 reduction!!
I personally prefer the 1st generation RWD version
No, these where the FWD ones, I had the Ford version Telstar TX5 downunder.

Did you just lose all interest?
This is a RWD one.
If i ever find a 1st gen coupe i can afford that isn't a rust bucket, i'm buying it.

No not at all, just assumed it was RWD.
