I purchased this car from Dherr the other year to serve as my daily beater. Got tired of the autotragic and decided that it wasnt worth swapping when compared with just getting another car. Ended up getting a Miata instead of another E30.

1986 BMW E30 4 door automatic.

182k miles, (see problems).

Work I have done on the car includes, New transfer pump, recent timing belt, water pump, plugs/wires, IAC hose, throttle position switch, front lollipop bushings, drivers control arm, oil pan replaced with new gasket, valve adjustment, new valve cover gasket, new cat. converter.

Problems with the car, needs new O2 sensor, currently running on open loop due to O2 sensor. (thats what I think the problem is, not positive)

shoddy rustoleum rattle can job (see pics) paint was crazing off and I had 3 days to get a solution in place, dosent look bad as long as your not up close.

small rust spot under battery, other then that the car is solid

the car is currently on Intraxx lowering springs, they are very low, it comes with the stock springs as well.

Over the summer the odometer stopped working due to a stripped gear, its a common problem. Car has not been driven much since the odo failed.

I already have the cars replacement, not excessively interested in trades, but you can go ahead and offer. I would like $1000 for it.

I like it. Alot. Would it make it to Atlanta?

I believe that it would. I regularly make a 45min drive to our other house with it without problems.

Would really like to find a new home for this car. Open to offers.

How hard is it to get the original springs back on? I like the current look, but my driveway would eat it alive and smile.

The front, jack up remove wheels, undo balljoint from strut, undo caliper, remove strut assembly, swap springs.

Rear should be much easier.

The parts come with the car.

What kind of gas mileage do you get with the car? How hard would it be to fix the odometer problem? Are the parts cheap?

I responded Via email, but here is more info on that in case anyone else wants to know

I was getting about 26-28mpg out of the E30, the speedo gear problem is a matter of disassembly and replacing a gear.

parts here http://www.odometergears.com/products/BMW/3+Series+E30+82-94+US/24

here is a writeup http://forums.eurocca.net/showthread.php/32394-E30-Odometer-Fix

For the most part, parts for this car have not been too bad, you do run into occasional parts that are a bit more then more mainstream cars (I came from a Mustang background)(for me, the odo parts, a new oilpan, etc), but other parts that are cheaper.

I MAY have a sale pending locally (been fooled more then once with locals making an offer and then backing out). Whoever has cash in my hand first takes the car. (dont want any hard feelings, I just have been trying to sell this car for too many months) Will let you know as soon as it sells, or if he backs out.

I think its more just a small company filling an aftermarket niche, less that its a BMW...

For instance, brake parts are dirt cheap
