Hi Everyone- I am helping out a friend sell his car. I encouraged him to get this car about 4 years ago. Just this past week, we found him another cream puff 1987 300e to replace this car. With a little bit of work, you could have a sweet German cruiser. These were the pinnacle of Mercedes engineering. The car had come from a good home when he bought the car and was well maintained to that point. My friend just kept up with the basic stuff and ignored the less important issues. Shoot me an email at ccrelan@aol.com with any questions. The car is sitting in Norwalk, CT.
Here is the bad:
bad rear tires, newer front tires.
bad rear brakes
all shocks stink
oil leak and bad drain plug, takes about a quart every two weeks
Needs fan clutch
sun roof broken
rear windows don't work
bar relay/sensor for left rear lights, brake and blinker
No AC
Clear coat is shot on roof. Has spent last 4 winters in South FL.
Good:
Engine runs super strong. Has 16" merc wheels. Rare rear spoiler. Car has been driven long distances between Long Island and South FL last 4 years and never let him down. Uncracked dash. Its a W124! These cars are the cockroaches of the car world- you can't kill them.
