I want this, but can't do it right now:

Talked to the owner briefly, sounds like more of an ECU/wiring issue maybe, says it 'feels like it's in 1st and 2nd at the same time'.
Body and interior look great; someone needs to do a 5-6 speed conversion on this.
How willing did the seller seem about dropping the price further? I have had my eye on this since the day I returned from The Challenge (not driving a Q45)
Since this is a first year model, did you ask or did he say if the failure prone, early engine chain guides had ever been updated?
These auto transmissions are know for failure due to heat from a inadequate trans fluid cooling. The right preventive measure is to add a large trans cooler. This one may be too late.
As for 1st and 2nd, these early year Qs are designed for a 2nd gear start when in D.
He sounded like he was done and wanted to get it out of the barn, so I'm thinking if you showed up with a trailer he'd be happy to see it gone. Apparently he had a new trans put in, and it has the same symptoms as the old one, so he parked it.
I believe so. I also think they had active suspensions a la F1.
Yes, RWD, ~300hp. That's most of what I know about them right now.
I was first picturing a nice cruising barge for my wife to drive, then I started picturing this:

Then I realized I couldn't afford to keep tires on it with her driving
. That, plus the whole trans issue.
A z32/33 transmission swap away.
Are we going to have an all Q45 class at the challenge next year?

These should've should better back when new, I can only surmise that it was because of the vague "it's in the details" ad campaign.

You know you want there to be!
I know I do!

There are lots of reasons they did not sell well at launch.
I think formost is the fact the overall body shape and grill-less exterior mostly resembled a Taurus of the time; a really expensive Taurus.
Lexus hit with a proper Benz-esque grill and overall vibe on their LS400
In the 4th year, 1994, Infiniti revised the front end to include a grill thru 1996 but too late.
I think someone with an SC400 is going to spoil the party.
I have always thought that the early ones without the grill were the best looking.
