It's been three years since I picked up poor Tonto and now I give up. My dreams of building a V8 Ranger are done. I had such high hopes too: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/new-project-meet-tonto-the-ford-ranger/50089/page1/
I'm going to just hold onto the V8 drive train and look for something that doesn't require modification. Really my main problem is Tonto would need to pass emissions, which would be a pain with a V8 swap. So now Tonto needs a new home.

Tonto has been stored inside since I got it, in the same spot as the last photo. I pulled the engine/trans and separated them, but that is as far as I got. It is/was a 2.3L manual truck, short bed, standard cab. The 2.3L engine is sitting in the bed. It has one mis-matched wheel. Should roll up on a trailer easy.
GRM price is $400. Come get it. Truck is located near Decatur, GA.
So...what are the chances the engine and trans would bolt back in and the truck be drivable? Looks like a terrifying thing to rallycross....

A different engine would bolt right back in. If that was the situation I'd have done that by now though. The original 2.3L is seriously hosed (run hot til it quit). I backed it into the garage and it puked water out the back of the head as fast as I could pour it in.
sigh
Alright, I guess I'll just part it out. Hell, the manual transmission is worth $600 alone.

that's normally his reaction to rust free Porsche finds
Whoever buys it from him can have my 2.3 engine for free.
I'd take it but the transfer of metal from there to here would be tough. Hope you find a local buyer!
Everyone wish Ranger50 good luck on his drive down to get the truck. And even better luck sleeping in it after his wife sees what he brought home.

Sorry Raze, the truck is home with Ranger50 now. I hear the bench seat sleeps better than he expected.
Come get it! No heat in the cab sucks at night....

2.3 or 2.3T?
2.3, but same block, right?
