$2000, needs replacement fuel tank or fuel cell installed. Located outside Holts Summit, MO
This was my winter daily driver and highway cruiser until ~Sept. last year. While it was in the shop getting new front cv shafts, and brake rotors I started smelling fuel. Without looking I bought new metal fuel lines to go from tank to under hood, because they had been patched before and had a few more trouble spots. When I got under it, the leak was coming from one of the corner/crevices of the fuel tank. I can't find a new aftermarket tank, but a used tank can be sourced, or a fuel cell could work in the massive trunk.
Mileage is ~193k, will have to confirm out in the shop. Engine uses a little oil, 1qt every 1500 miles or so. 5-speed shifts good, only complaint there is the throw-out bearing is noisy when clutch pedal is depressed.
I can provide pictures, more details if anyone is interested. Email is probably easiest chockrl @ gmail.com

Forgot some of the details of the car... 5-cylinder 20-valve turbocharged engine, 5-speed manual, quattro AWD with locking diff.
I have seen this car, and can vouch for it being it quite nice shape for the price. The only reason it's not in my garage is the expense of feeding it on a 65 mile commute.
I'm not in the market for swanky $2000 car...but wanted to chime in and say "Hello" from Columbia.

You need to step up your game, dude. This has Clem written all over it. Just need to add another zero to the price you normally pay for your projects.
Dude, this car is such a seriously awesome deal. I get the shivers thinking about working on any of the quattro Audi's though. Dang.

Still sitting in my shop, I'd consider OBO but not sure how low I could go, it's already pretty low.
Again the best way to contact me is email: chockrl AT gmail.com

this car is still AWESOME
Holy crap. Last week I might have been interested in this, but after dealing with my horn/speedo issue over the weekend, VAG is on notice.
I'll probably own 3-4 more in the next few years, though.

^^black on black...could it get any better?
How bad is the fuel leak?....basically wondering if it can be driven or needs to be towed.
What doesn't work.... curious about AC,sunroof, other electrical?
I have a love/hate relationship with german cars and bikes, so I'm looking for a little more punishment I guess.

It can be driven, but the leak is on the side that the exhaust runs on, so I don't advise it.
As of last fall everything worked, might be a few pixels out of the Auto Climate control, but heated seats, sunroof (again as of last time I used it, which might have been a couple of years), radio, auto locks, windows, everything works.
Sorry for such a slow response, don't always get time to check the boards.

I do still have it, very reluctant to put on craigslist... not sure about trade, but it never hurts to ask.

I missed the updates to this thread after my post. It's still tempting, but with the trans acting up in my tow rig I'm out since it's probably not a good idea to drive. good luck with the sale.
Blast. My commute has shortened considerably.

possible trades are...
1977 Pontiac Firebird esprit white, meh condition, rusted floorboards, runs but smokes
1986 MR2 mk1 red, ok condition, runs but smokes
1988 GMC 2500 4x4 350 constrution yellow, OK condition, runs fine
1989 Chevy 2500 4x4 350 blue, good condition, runs fine
my buddy and I would drive it in, and drive the Audi back.

The MR2 is the only sort of interest, but I really don't need another project. Mostly why I'm trying to sell this instead of taking on the fuel tank fix. Sorry...
Probably not the best idea to drive it any distance either, Columbia, Fulton would probably be the furthest with the leaking fuel tank.

I got a 5 gal fuel cell with a 255L mounted on the side and a return line ready. I can get it home. I love a challenge.
The blue 89 Chevy would be the best of the bunch.
