Even if the timing belt broke, I think those engines are non-interference. If it was an automatic, I'd probably be ditching the Xterra project for it.

The thing about a Toyota at that price is you could probably dump $1500-$2000 into it, keep it for a few years and sell it without losing any money.
Is Raleigh south enough that they don't get real winter or road salt? I'd like an old 4runner, but they are all very crusty up here.

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully my car sells quickly, and I can pull the trigger on something like that soon. I was hoping to have everything in motion by now and putting together a trailer to move with. But this damn 2.2 in SWMBO S10 is driving me about bat E36 M3 crazy.

It is, but with the way the auto auctions move cars around, and the number of Northern transplants to the area, I always give everything a really good look. In my opinion, showing the registered locations of vehicles is one of the best things about Carfax.
