2000 Jaguar xj8. Will not run. Exterior almost perfect. Interior Fair. Possibly needs a new motor. Serious inquiries only........Make me an offer above $1500 and its yours. Beautiful car.
XJ8! No weenie 6cyl in that one!
Oops. My bad! If only I could change the thread title! Add a little LS and have the coolest Challenge car evar!!!
I believe that era Jag has a strong ford influence. Does anyone here know if a mod motor is any bit similar? It would be nice because they are damn near free!
And yes, I was very very tempted by this car.

The engine in the v8 lincoln LS is essentially the same, although 3.9l instead of 4.0. It's not related to any other modular engine.
So not exactly the free motor you hope for.
OTOH.... I've seen a quad cam 4.6 stuffed into a Lincoln LS, and since this car is bigger than the LS, I would imagine that the 4.6 would go in with only a little bit of sawzal and cutting torch.
Go for it!

per wikipedia that same engine ended up in the thunderbird and Lincoln LS, if you're looking for wrecked donors. It doesn't mention if accessories and bellhousings are the same, so you'll have to do your own legwork on that one.
edit: alfadriver beat me to it!
I'm having nasty thoughts...
They came in supercharged trim as well.

But it's still half the price of the Jag engine! You can find the Lincoln LS engines in the $750 range, the Jag on the other hand is closer to $2k. Although not challenge legal, $2,250 would still be a pretty good deal on a running 2000 XJ8.
