Translocked up while driving in parking lot. Wheels counter rotate if they are both off the ground only. Stick will not move. so yea... it's trashed. 137k miles. Looking to unload as-is for parts or whatever. Blue book is well below repair costs. 1000.00

Is it a Cooper, or Cooper-S? If it's an S I've read that all the guts from a Focus SVT Getrag trans will swap into the MINI transmission case.
And I have two working SVT transmissions for cheap. $150 each. I'm in Pittsburgh.
Bet it's a base with the junk Midland box. Very common for them to explode into pieces inside.

I'm giving some thought to this one, guys. Outside of rebuilding the midlands and a clutch, about 1500 or so right there, what other concerns should I have?

Do a 6 speed Getrag conversion from an S instead of rebuilding the Midland. You can go online and find a lot of info on the subject.

Looks like a 6 speed conversation plus the price of this car would put me in s territory. So not really worth it.
Also strange is that working midlands appears to be as much or more than a getrag 6 sp.
Find a bad Getrag from a CooperS and a good Focus SVT Getrag, swap the guts and you're good to go. The Focus has overall lower gearing which would work better with the Cooper motor anyway.
Problem is that what I've read, the getrag is as reliable as the midlands isn't. They can easily do 200 to 300k. I'm betting that the 132k this mini has done may be a record for a midlands.
