Clearly the seller isn't the sharpest tool in the shed...I agree the coolant switch has nothing to do with spark, but there's a decent pile of parts to start with.

Coolant temp sensor on the water neck can cause all sorts of weird issues with these cars if they read "open" and the wires frequently fail right at the plug.
Been there, done that.
Im sure this has been asked before, but why would you narrow the problem down to something that you are claiming is a simple fix and not take care of it? I see it all the time on Craigslist. "All this car needs is a 99 cent part but I don't want to mess with it. But I promise it runs perfect!"
