Wow, that's cheap, assuming there's no hidden berkeleyery.

It's never actually driven with the swap I'm assuming, so it's not clear how well it actually works.

It'll also be slow as piss considering it's an non-turbo diesel.

Cool idea though. Surprised it fit.

So he did all the labor of swapping in a diesel in place of a gas mill but can't put in brake lines?

I'm also wondering why he didn't swap in the turbo - IIRC the 6.5 was always turbo'd, wasn't it? I thought it was the 6.2 that was N/A.

Nope,there were a few 6.5 non-turbos. Dad had one. IIRC just a 6.2 with larger bore. What a freakin dog that truck was.

Good thing it's a conversion van. That generation Astro were burnout machines because of how much the back end didn't weigh. Put a large mass of iron on the nose and the rear tires may actually lose contact with the ground.
