That seems cheap. I wonder if something is wrong with it so he applied some temporary fix and is trying to unload it while it still runs.

If he got repair shop estimates he could be looking at a huge repair bill and just want to dump it.

My green e39 touring went to a guy who took it to the dealer (even though I told him to call me) when it started making some noises. They charged him 2800 to do exhaust gaskets! That's why these get unloaded for nothing....

Front end shimmy on these is usually control arms, right? They can't be that hard to replace...

Yea, that shimmy requires a lower control arm replacement. Those are the ones with the plastic timing chain guides that break, so I'd be a little afraid at that high mileage and if I heard any timing chain noise.
