Bought this from a co-worker last year, now that I've started a new business I don't have time to finish. It shows 72k miles on the odo but the title has a mileage brand. Title in hand.
Body is straight and 99% rust free aside from the drivers front fender. Could use a drivers floor pan but it's not that bad yet. The only real bad point is the aftermarket sunroof that's kinda hacked in there. Seems to be a common thing for these cars.
Interior is trashed. Headliner missing. Incorrect seats. Gross black carpet. Faded red dash. I had planned to just gut it.
The PO had removed most of the relays and tried to do a race car style switch panel. It now has all that crap removed and new relays installed. It'll start occasionally but I can't get consistent spark out of it. Runs pretty good when it'll start. Also has new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and ignition module. Probably needs a new coil. Also has new stainless exhaust with APC fart can courtesy of the PO.
$500. In dayton ohio. Bring a trailer.
Pics from the day I got it. It was sitting in a field
pics from today. I still have the bumpers

It's getting scrapped this week, so I'm open to offers or trades to save it from the crusher
You sir are NOT HELPING
The car is in fact in very nice shape, it would be a shame to scrap it.
Where is the "I can't hear you, I'm not listening" smiley!
i cant believe this thing has not been bought. it's located in the rust belt and it looks pretty good. these are getting rare.....someone save her
In 2004, Sports Car International declared the Golf Mk1 GTI to be the 3rd best car of the 1980s.
How can I possibly be glad and hate the fact that this is not closer to me...
Someone save this car....

Looks like it's getting parted.
So far the front clip, bumpers, and some various trim have been claimed.
Has a good 8v, good 5spd with a newer clutch, brand new bilstien shocks, and lots of other stuff, let me know what you want.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh well. An A8L came up for sale for a similarly cheap price and I'm probably going to buy that instead.
I'm local and I'd love it but I'm also broke and the wife would likely disappear me.
I told my 240Z friend about it and he said hell, I'd have given you the money for it and made space in the driveway, you should've called while you were down there.
(note: I did call, no answer)
So, um... anybody got a front clip for a Rabbit?
Almost as cool as a Miata towing a Mini.

Excellent. So explain what hitch is needed to do this? Class I?
I dunno, not my car. I just know that he's towed with it before and failed to die, so it'd probably work just fine. It's not the best setup, especially when towing a car that has about an inch of toe-in and a trunk full of Datsun, but it got the job done. Just needed to be very gentle and gradual and don't overcorrect when the towed car starts pushing the back around in corners.
Now that I think of it, I really can't recommend it to anybody. But - now that I did it, I can say I did it and don't have to ever do it again

Hooray for not parting!
Very. The car is solid in ways I wish my Quantum was. I'm still not sure what I want to do with it, but at the very least its execution has been reprieved.

Synchro gti?
Maaaaaaaaaaybe.
I do have 13:1 pistons and a dual DCOE manifold for this engine. I also have a Corrado G60 bottom end. I also have a crappy-style 10v turbo exhaust manifold that is begging to be turned into a 8v manifold, and a spare K24 turbo. Or, I still have an Eaton M62. And, yes, I also have access to another Syncro rear suspension, but that is rather involved of a swap, need to do rather major surgery to make that happen.
I collected a lot of VW parts over the years....

Wait a minute... Are we saying that Quantum parts can make this happen??
The rear suspension is easy, since the Quantum Syncro used a FWD floorpan. Eliminate the spare tire well and rear beam and bracket everything up.
Making a new trans tunnel is the hard part. Getting a transverse AWD transmission is the "my god what was I thinking" horrendously expensive part. And, I'm not certain that would even work, since I recently learned that the rear differential used in the QSW (as well as all longitudinal Audis) is reverse rotation. Not sure if the Audi TT transaxle will jibe with that. Plus, the TT trans has no center diff that I'm aware of, that is handled via their Haldex rear diff, which I've seen mated to a Syncro beam but it looked less than fun.
I recall an article in one of the UK Volkswagen rags about a 9 second Mk1 that used such a setup. The undercar pics were beautiful.
Anyway, I already have an AWD car. By acquiring a front driver, I feel that I've restored balance to the Force, since now I can run in MR, M4, or MF without borrowing a car.
That impreza looks familiar, possible OVR member?
