Now only $675!

Not mine, unfortunately. Please, someone spare me the daily torture of seeing this on CL:

In case you don't know, there were only 500 of these cars made. They were made for FIA GrpA homologation purposes.

The guy knows what it is and clearly wants for it to go to a good home, so you can probably strike up an even better deal if you can show some real passion for the car (but not too much, after all you're trying to get it cheaper ).

It says in the ad it is NOT a groupA homologated model.

I guess that my post wasn't quite clear, or the owner's post isn't clear. It's not one of the 30 or so cars that was sent back to Europe to be prepped to race in GrpA events, it is one of the remaining 470 that were sold in the US. I think that's what the seller is getting at. There were no '83 242 turbo flathoods sold in the US other than the 470 homologation cars, so unless someone has done some parts swapping, this is one of those cars. There is a stamped number on the unibody that can be checked to aid in determining authenticity.

The whole purpose of producing these 500 cars was so that certain parts on the car could be homologated for GrpA events. In other words, this is not a GrpA race car, it's the street version created for parts homologation purposes. Unfortunately, Volvo pulled a sneaky one and removed almost all of the go-fast parts before the 470 were sold in the US, so these cars are basically '83 242 Turbos with the 4-cyl hood, Euro grille, GT springs, and an intercooler (which came standard on the turbos in later years). Some cars were sold new with the GrpA wing in the trunk, uninstalled.

It's baa-ack. And I still want it but can't have it, so one of you other crazies needs to buy it. I updated the CL link in the first post.

Heck, if you buy this and his (supposedly) running 242 turbo parts car for $1k, you'd still have a grand to play with for the $2013 challenge.
