Here's a lime-green GT that's somewhat local to me. Hasn't sold in over 6 months, so it's probably seriously FUBAR. Automatic too, so who cares anyways.

I tried to contact the seller several times in the other ad, then it disappeared two weeks ago.

Could you get the GT-S in the hatch body style? I like the idea of these cars a lot, but I can't take the coupe's roofline.

The hatch is actually far more common... i don't know where all these coupes are coming from all of a sudden. I've seen more of them in the last week than i've seen in my life.

I drove an '84 GT hatch for years and years. Every time I'd see a coupe I thought the tail lights were so much cooler. Guess it stuck with me. Now that I have one and see them all the time, know what? They still look really cool.

The problem is that the hatch itself was incredibly prone to rust from the inside out. I remember looking at used '83s (first year for this body style) in 1985 and they were starting to show rust at the lower right corner of the hatch. At that point, I just thought it as a fluke, didn't know it was epidemic.

22RE up through 1985 (GT and GT-S). After that, it became FWD with a different engine.

All the "Celica" versions were 22R. Some of the early ones were carbed, but by '84 all were 22REs. GTS got the independent rear. ST and GT were solid rear axle. The "Celica Supra" got the six. 4AGE is cool, but there's room for more in these things. 2JZ is the way to go.

That's right. Of course, that also means it's lighter. The IRS was a semi-trailing arm and the toe changes were wonky when it moved. I think the advantage is more "comfy ride" than performance. The SRA is a four link with panhard bar. Pretty decent set up out of the box.
